It isn't in the interests of Ashley/Charnley to lose players they consider assets, when there's still the potential for this deal to later fall through and them have lost said assets. it's amazing how many people think everything stops at a business when a takeover is happening. Not sure that's entirely fair, I (and many others on here I'm sure) have a business background and don't widely hold the opinion you've stated there. But I'd wager that like me, the overwhelming thought is "this is Michael James Wallace Ashley and very much a specialist case" which throws any sensible instincts out the window.

They're business people, you wouldn't put someone in charge of managing an investment portfolio just because they're from the area its based in yet drastically underqualifed in every other area. I'm confident Bruce is binned and someone competent is brought in. After all, as has been mentioned, ambassadorial roles can be created for those with a passion and love for the club but who don't have the talent or skills to fulfil footballing positions.
