  1. You do realise there are multiple people on here don’t you? I can guarantee I have never shat the bed about selling a player for over £30M, who had never kicked a ball for us
  2. Hmmm looks like we fleeced Brighton for £33M based on his showing so far today
  3. Will have to give it another go, but stopped it after about 5 minutes of last Sunday's long run. Started off with some what appeared to be comedy in jokes and I wasn’t in the mood to listen to that whilst hauling my fat arse around for 13 miles 😂
  4. I get what you’re saying, it’s just that I see it as apart from Arsenal and Man City there's uncertainty about every other team competing for a European place. Whilst I understand the standing still is going backward argument, I’d argue the signings of Kelly and Osula have raised the floor of the squad, and the fact that no European football should theoretically mean the squad is loaded less, whin in turn means we should be able to remain competitive.
  5. And your posts are giving me strong Laurence Fox "she's turned the Bairns against me" vibes
  6. I can guarantee that Tapsoba would turn out to be a shite signing if that fraud @Alan Pardew was still in our dugout. Im not sure Yanga Mbiwa would have flopped here if we had a manager capable of pronouncing th correctly
  7. Jesus this place is full of people who just like to be contrarian and want to argue. If you’re telling me anyone at the club knew we were going to be in a position to sell Minteh for over £30m last summer, ask them to tell you the lottery numbers. The point I was making is we have signed a lot of kids for the academy at various age points with differing levels of experience, I’m sure some at the club have hopes that some may make it to the first team and others will develop enough to make the club a tidy profit. Which is exactly what the likes of Brighton do. They’re just further along in the process and have a more defined process for getting that talent into their first team or into high profile loans elsewhere. I believe this is something Newcastle want to improve dramatically and the appointment of Mitchell will hopefully be an important stepping stone on the way to that becoming a reality
  8. You mean like Minteh did last year? The truth is we don’t know how things are going to go in that regard yet. I’d argue that even raising the floor of where the majority of our Academy graduates end up from Northern Premier League to League One or Championship will see it starting to generate the club income. Rome wasn’t built in a day and all that
  9. Have a quick gander in the u23’s thread, we have been doing the same since the ownership changed. We have even done it at centre half this summer with the Serbian lad, not to mention Alex Murphy, Cathal Hefferan and Charlie McCartthur all signed fairly recently. These things take time to seed and deliver though
  10. the two are not exclusive, you’re comparing selling an almost guaranteed first 11 player when fit, to a lad who had never kicked a ball for us and someone who was at best 3rd choice in each position he covered. As annoying as it was, the decision made was a no brainer, particularly given the relative profit in PSR terms they both generated.
  11. It also really helps if you’re Crystal Palace who have no pressure or expectation on where you finish In the league. I mean is it any wonder clubs in our respective positions are looking in different markets? Can we afford to have young centre backs learn their trade for a season or two in our first team?
  12. All joking aside did he not play wide right forward during his goal scoring loan spell under cabbagehead?
  13. Its also why the Northern League dominated the FA Vase for a good while too though
  14. The more they keep doing this, the more I think they know theres a lengthy transfer ban incoming for the irregularities found under Abramvich
  15. Is the issue not due to the fact that given they're resigned to losing Toney, Brentford would be just as awkward to deal with if not more so than Palace are being now.
  16. You’re shouting into the void, for what it’s worth it would appear those at the club agree with you; given by all accounts we've not bid anywhere near £70M
  17. What for trusting the professionals at the club know more than me and some on here? I think you need to learn what irony is mate
  18. £58M is 70% of £65 m now is it? And how the fuck can you honestly tell the "ceiling" of an 18 year old who hasn’t actually played much men’s football? Honestly you’d think some on here had decades of experience working in football analytics they way they speak with such utter authority. Take the Saliba for £27M example used earlier, he was bought for that in 2019 (so adjust for football inflation for a start), then had to go back on loan to France for a season before becoming an Arsenal regular in 2022/23, can we afford to spend £30m+ for someone who might be a first team player in 2028? We might not like it, but after missing out on Tosin, we are going to have to pay a premium to get a PL proven ready centre half in Guehi now
  19. It’s not best centre half in the world money though, it’s less than Maguire went for years ago, it’s less than Chelsea paid Leicester for Wesley Fofana again several years ago, ffs Man Utd have paid similar money for an 18 year old centre half with very limited games this very season
  20. Yeah but not by fucking Chelsea surely, I mean that’s like swapping the clap for herpes
  21. They were also signed years ago, you know in a previous world where holding midfielders with one half decent season went for less than £100m. Does it sound totally ridiculous if you think of it as less than 2 Elliot Anderson’s
  22. If Gomez is the option at that price, I’d rather blood Murphy. The bloke has looked poor every time I’ve seen him properly tested
  23. Burn the Dagmar down again and you harm both Parish and the Talksport ponce in one fell swoop (I realise this very recent reference will age me ever so slightly)
  24. Well just caveed and bought the away and third shirts to go with the home shirt I already own. I guess my sofa viewing is going to be more authentic this season. Doing my bit to beat PSR
  25. It’s completely, utterly and exactly the same from a PSR standpoint. The fee is immediately amortised over the length of the contract, up to 5 years
