Nah. Dummett is a solid fullback. We could massively do without exposing our CBs by playing a winger as a wing back. Just because he hasn't got sleeve tattoos and tries to do stepovers every game doesn't mean to say that he isn't an important part of the team. Problem - Dummett is poor going forward. Solution - play him as a LB rather than a LWB and try and get our wingers to actually add something to the team. What a surprise you're a Dummettista p*ss off you Perez loving melt! Not a Dummettista, but can see him for what he is - a limited defender who makes a passable LB, but can't be relied on to go forward with the ball. A bit like Aaron Hughes was. The only way we're going to get an upgrade on him is to spend £££, but there are at least 6 positions on the pitch a higher priority for a spend at the minute. Aaron Hughes was a far far better defender and player than Dummett will ever be Agreed. But my point still stands. Getting an upgrade on Dummett would cost money that we would be much better off spending on our front six. I suppose you could make an argument that our front players would perform to a better standard if we had better fullbacks. Ritchie might get to stay a bit further up if Yedlin wasn't as much of a liability and Kennedy might have a bit more of an outlet if we had a LB that could overlap.

Just being a good tackler isn't enough for a Premier League fullback anymore. He doesn't get far enough up the pitch for a keeper, let alone a LB. He's definitely not the weakest link in the team but he's been close to it for years now. His shortcomings just aren't as apparent as players like Yedlin. He kills off far too many promising attacks with his conservative passing and reluctance to cross the halfway line.
  3. It's all the better when someone gives it back. Had one old duffer laying into a ref once because we gave away a blatent penalty. Everyone else round us was silent with resignation but he was still doing the "Are you blind, ref?!? He never touched him" thing when one of his mates shouts up "How the fuck could you see that he didn't touch him? You're a hundred yards away and you're not even wearing your glasses you daft old bastard!!!" The collective giggling from half the stand shut him up for a while.
  4. The lass has been bugging me to go to another match for a while now. Finally gave in and targeted Fulham as a time when we're both finally in the area at the same time, at the same time as a match and all that stuff. Spent what seemed like fucking hours on the website on tuesday trying to find anywhere in the ground with 2 seats together, having no luck whatsoever. Between the shit site, the continued protests and all the other crap swirling round I've just decided to sack it off. I've been planning to book a weekend away somewhere in January so I've decided to kill two birds with one stone and go see AC play Napoli instead.
  5. Wolves seem to be run tremendously top to bottom. Wolves have also mostly acquired players and training staff from Spain and Portugal which I think helped them settle down quicker. They also have a questionable relationship with Jorge Mendes which explains them punching well above their weight in the transfer market.
  6. I'm pretty sure Lakeside is another INTU place too and that's one of the other closures.
  7. https://news.sky.com/story/house-of-fraser-to-shut-four-stores-after-failure-to-lower-rents-11554031 or: "Give me a good deal or I'll shut the shops and it'll be everyone's fault but mine."
  8. I love watching Zidane taking players on. Insane ability to just drive the ball wherever he wanted. Didn't matter what was in his way, he'd flick it over their head with perfect precision, run round them and catch it on the other end with perfect control. Those signature "Zidane-roulettes" at the speed he did them. Very hard to choose between their styles. Iniesta's close control could put half a team on their arses and his passing could completely bypas the other half. Zidane could just put his foot down and power through a midfield like nobody else existed and play a pass that the defenders couldn't even dream was possible. Then to top that all off, they could both probably play in the same way as the other one and be just as good.
  9. Aye, the interviews with actual footballers and stuff seem a lot better because they just seem to sit back and listen more. Turns into a bit of a wankfest when they have other comedians on though.
  10. Wonder how long they've been lining that one up behind his back?
  11. The quiz is probably the worst episode. It’s mainly just off beat random stuff. My favourite episodes have been with guests I can't stand. The Lawro ep where he was talking about when Keegan hired him up here was pretty eye opening. Merson and Le Tiss in the first few eps were pretty good and I'm only half way through but the Gary Neville 2 parter seems good so far.
  12. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/isaac-hayden-newcastle-rafa-benitez-15411876 Interesting to see he's been given a bit of flexability due to his family and stuff. Agree with Benitez that the Cardiff game was just a product of the sittuation at the time and him being a bit eager. I still think there's a tidy player in there somewhere. Never going to tear up trees but if he can just do that Diame job of being the destroyer a bit better and without picking up daft cards he'll be a decent squad player to keep around.
  13. It's just a shit attempt at trying to bait a response. He's not smart enough to write anything funny or insightful for the likes of Paddy Power so just chucking out obviously inflamitory shit is all he has.
  14. Same could be said of Carr's choices tbh.
  15. True If people didn't want to protest Ashley when Pardew/Carver were stinking the place up with 4-0 losses every week and Ashley was still a shithouse, they're not going to start now.
  16. Was speaking to the staff the other day when they were explaining that you have to send off any gift cards to head office but they don't know why or if anyone will actually get anything back. Lass said the first thing Mike did when he took over was bin off the entire security staff to bring in his own people. They seemed a bit pissed off and didn't fancy their chances of staying around after that.
  17. That's one of the things they need to be doing imho. The other, and I might get some flak for this, would be trying to open some dialogue with Ashley himself......get him sat down and say look, we're not going away, can you please just do the honourable thing and sell the club on. He may see it as an opportunity to gain some decent publicity and more importantly for him, save some face. If he doesn't want to know, the gloves need to come off. Honourable thing  Aye Sorry but that's just funny. Ashley isn't just going to have a major u-turn. And he's definitely not going to let it become public knowledge even if he does. It would be an invitation for low ball offers from chancers.
  18. Class The thought of Wright in clothes Cheick bought him. Love reads like that. Even more so for Wright, who's gotten a bit of a 'Dr Death' label at times with our terrible past injury record. But it says it all that every manager has kept him on, including Kev, Sir Bobby and Rafa. Wright sweating buckets, chipping ball after ball for Tiote to volley over the bar from 40yards out at a taxi driver. Still sounds like a better setup than Longbenton.
  19. Getting Tino to score a hattrick against Barca was an achievement but getting Shola to score against them was an absolute fucking miracle.
  20. Marchisio is a weird one. Wonder what's triggered that? That midfield diamond of him, Pogba, Pirlo and Vida was absolutely world class. Reckon he fancies pulling on another black and white shirt?
  21. Eaxctly, and stops on the way. A few away games this season will also include going past the SD HQ, no reason why busses shouldn't leave a few hours earlier to protest outside on the way there or on the way back. I honestly think you'd get a fair few opposition fans joining in on our side. I know Reddit and the like aren't true barometers of public feeling but the tide is turning on sites like that. They've gone straight through the "LOL Newcastle" phase and into actually feeling sorry for us. Even the ones that don't fully understand the sittuation still know the shit that Ashley puts the SD staff through.
  22. Atmosphere was very subdued. And I was there. Is that just the new norm now?
