  1. Seems to have been a bit of a wild over-exaggeration in terms of that story...
  2. You think we’ll get “easily beaten” at home to a team 15th in the Championship who are likely to make just as many changes us? I know things feel a bit grim at the minute but howay man.
  3. Questionable whether he'll be playing tbh. They'll most likely turn out as much of a reserve side as we do.

The main reason we are (currently) better away from home is that we have a squad of players who are better suited to hanging in with a certain game plan, and then trying to make the most of any opportunities they get. When they are asked to be on the front foot (yes, yes Pardewism), they struggle badly as they lack the quality to cut a teams open. Similar to why we have a terrible record of coming from behind. And, unfortunately, no support, good, bad or indifferent, can make much difference to that.

That’s bollocks really though isn’t it. Our home support is just the same as it has been for the last number of years, no better, no worse. The biggest problem we have by far, is that, by PL standards, our players aren’t very good.

They are. Although as mentioned further back, we've apparently asked for more. I’ve simply not got the points, never mind. If we get anywhere close to 5k it will almost certainly go down to 0 points, so I wouldn't worry in that regard.

To be honest, if that's true about the allocation eventually being 5k it'll end up going to 0 points/members.

that can't be true surely. It is! Just over 1700 remaining now. Looking like we'll sell those 5k if that's what we've really got. where are you seeing this info? When you log in to the ticket portal and you go to whichever (away) game you want tickets for, it tells you how many are remaining.

That's right. Not sure if there'll be scope for anymore once they sell out? Suspect the coppers/SAG would probably have had a say on it though.

1000 sold in the first half hour! ;D Madness for an U21 game!

Blackpool away please. Take about 7k and take over the place.
  16. That does not surprise me one bit. Coming away from the game last night I said to my mate I would arguably have given him MotM as I thought the amount of times he broke up play by getting a foot in was phenomenal.

    Kieron Dyer

not as good as he thought he was. his finishing was awful. Scholes scored more at St James Park than he did. That isn't even remotely close to being true though, is it? Not across Dyer's career at Newcastle. From 2002 to 2007 Scholes scored 6 to Dyer's 5 at SJP though. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2007/aug/01/theknowledge.sport Right. Interesting. Kinda like a Trumpism, take a fact, repeat it whilst excluding some relevant details, and you have a brand new more impressive fact, that, whilst not true, can be argued with a degree of merit, thus creating the impression that new made up fact is actually fact.

  19. You only get 2k as opposed to 3k there though don't you? Although agreed 100 does seem very high, despite it still being in the Xmas period, so theoretically more people off work and wanting to go. Be interesting to see what it ends up at.
  20. They'll have just asked for the lower allocation to start with, they'll get the rest once these have sold, or nearly sold. Although given it's on Boxing Day and will clearly sell out, that seems fairly unnecessary. It's just lower tier anyway at Anfield, Everton where it's upper and lower, we've only got lower this season. Probably just Ashley being Ashley, a few seasons ago we only got tiny allocations away aswell. It's fair enough with Everton, we still haven't sold what we've got, so no need to take the larger allocation. But midweek, shortly before Xmas is a somewhat different to Boxing Day...

I think the point is that in that one game he showed miles more than our other forwards ever have. Whether he can do that consistently is obviously to be seen, but the fact that he can do it at all would suggest he is a significant upgrade and key to how our season goes.
  23. hardly, wont play this year Why not? Injured. He is training though, but I doubt he'll start for a few games yet. I know he's been injured, but like you say he's back training, so I wondered if there was something I didn't know about that would prevent him playing for another three months. I suspect, given the current mood around the club, we just take every bit of news, add a negative factor of x10, and assume that's how it will play out?
