  1. Really didn't think there was anything outlandishly bad. Bruno's yellow card was a stupid decision but aside from that he wasn't anywhere near the worst we've seen this season.
  2. I ended up really liking him. Reliable in his first season in the PL and then, somehow good again when called upon the following season, despite us having better players and going for 5th (see also Danny Guthrie). Martin's best form for us was pre-Ashley really so that's why he's not higher, but he wasn't a particularly clever player like, I think he spent most of his career looking raw.
  3. Not at all, he was really good in 10/11 and 11/12
  4. Wilson Remy Ba Carroll Cisse Rondon Best Martins Mitrovic
  5. Hasn't been a contest for a long time imo. Others rate Ba around about the same though.
  6. I love Wilson, but comparing him with Ferdinand is like when N-O tried to compare ASM with HBA, you're just forcing me to speak negatively about a player I love by comparing them with some of the best players I've ever seen play for Newcastle. Ferdinand was unbelievable man, he won player of the year in 95/96 and both his seasons rank alongside any of Shearer or Cole's at Newcastle. Not saying it happens on here, but there's definitely a trend at the moment of dismissing first-hand experience as delusional nostalgia like, it's proper nauseating. Usually from the same people who use words and expressions like 'ball' and 'pick up' when they mean football and signing.
  7. Love that Howe has just mentioned in his presser that he does this.
  8. Just hoyed my player ratings throughout the season into a spreadsheet. Without looking, my 3 main contenders for player of the season are: Joelinton Schar Trippier Turns out that going on my ratings, my top 3 with 2 games to go are actually: Isak Almiron Pope
  9. I get the impression he thinks he's adding insight, but it's literally just the most basic level of hindsight you could imagine. 'Almiron should be doing better there, the 'keeper's going one way, he just needs to play that to the other side and it's a goal' - Fucking Howard Carter over here.
  10. Forgot to mention how relentlessly irritating that fart sniffing hindsight merchant Andy Hinchcliffe was That sarcastically inflected 'because it wasn't a penalty?' must have imploded every ovary within a 20 mile radius of SJP.
  11. Spurs 2-1 Brentford Bournemouth 1-1 Man United Fulham 1-1 Palace Liverpool 2-1 Villa Wolves 0-1 Everton Forest 2-1 Arsenal West Ham 1-2 Leeds Brighton 4-0 Southampton Man City 3-0 Chelsea (double) Newcastle 5-1 Leicester Brighton 1-3 Man City Man United 2-0 Chelsea
  12. It just goes to show the difference between being there and watching on the telly. The EFL Cup Final sounded absolutely class on telly, but the people who were there said the atmosphere wasn't great, the match last night sounded nervy and slightly subdued, but everyone who was there has said the atmosphere was excelent.
  13. Would be tempted to go with a 4231 of Pope Trippier Schär Botman Burn Bruno Joelinton Almiron Isak ASM Wilson
  14. Waking up after a win has become one of my favourite things about this season. That moment when you remember is class.
  15. History doesn't always repeat itself but it often rhymes, so it would be absolutely amazing if this could be one that rhymes with our match with Leicester almost exactly 30 years ago.
  16. Last season those crunch matches were to avoid relegation, look at us now. This is genuinely insane
  17. I'm so happy that I'm lapping up the football insight of Jamie Redknapp
  18. He's ridiculously underrated
  19. Unanimous that he's the best Ashley-era striker now? He's fucking class like, that dip earlier in the season was truly bizarre considering this is his level
