This is the problem that comes with demand outstripping supply. Some people don’t get what they want. I binned my ST off under Ashley and lost my loyalty points. If I thought there was something the club could do to fix this situation I’d be booting off but ultimately there’s no easy solution. I didn’t get a final ticket, but I think approach was as fair as could be in the circumstances. An effort was made to give ‘loyal’ fans (by all conventional markers such as points, ST holding etc) first dibs and then some tickets we left to spread around the rest of the fanbase. Appreciate people who were in P4 and didn’t get one are pissed off that people in P6 did, but it’s not like you weren’t warned it was a ballot.

Must be miserable to be a Saints fan right now. A club that has given up.

Got to be honest, I always thought TF was try-hard as fuck when it came to the non-football stuff. Dreadful dinner party liberalism put to paper by a bloke who went to see 808 State once and thought he was Madchester incarnate. Even as a nascent lefty in the early to mid 00s who threw himself at the feet of anyone vaguely radical I knew it was properly shit. Shame like, because there was evidently a market for a left leaning fanzine that wasn’t a tribute to Red Issue. I’ve no idea of the politics of Hurst et al but it wouldn’t surprise me if MM has got into bed with the type of people he spent most of the last thirty years performatively attacking. Keep on keepin’ on.

Thought he was better today. End product wasn’t great but he was at least carrying the ball a bit more effectively than West Ham.

Absolutely dog shit today like. Probably the worst we’ve played this season. Not sure whether it’s fatigue or players just losing a bit of confidence in each other. We’re increasingly ponderous around the box and teams know they can just dig in and crowd us out because everyone’s looking for a six yard sideways pass that is going to unlock something. It’s not working so we’re making mistakes and teams aren’t as frightened of us as they were before Christmas. We’re a team in transition so it’s not surprising that performances have dipped. We are overly reliant on a few genuinely class players to pull everyone up a level or two, and that’s worn off a bit.

There’s no way we get 67k on enough of a regular basis to justify that. There’s a balance between maximising gate receipts and availability of tickets. An extended Gallowgate taking us to 60k is the sweet spot. Remember we’re in the honeymoon phase. Every expectation we have is being bested. We’re all in love with the club again. Life is sweet. Once this becomes the norm I don’t see us being able to pack another 15,000 into SJP every other week, let alone for cup and European fixtures.

I don’t really think this has any major implications for us, unless it ends up with FFP being torpedoed.

I want to be annoyed but then I remember we’re 16 unbeaten and it kind of dissipates. First ten minutes we were great, then we let Rice take the piss, and the the last 30 we were the better team. Who knows how things would’ve panned out had Bruno and Isak been available, but at the end of the day we’re on an absolutely ridiculous run given where we were twelve months ago. Speaking as someone who has to fire up every device within a quarter mile radius to even have a sniff of getting a ticket when they go on member sale, I don’t really have an issue with ST holders or the club’s approach. You pay for an ST you’re at the front of the queue. It’s always been the case. I don’t think they’re getting overly preferential treatment (only quibble I’d have is pots 5 and 6). Shit that people who want to go will miss out but that’s just life.

I think having bought a ticket to a cup game is fine a minimum eligibility criteria tbf. Appreciate that this won’t be popular with ST holders that can’t/wouldn’t go but I wouldn’t say it’s really harsh.

In period six, so little to no chance but a man can dream. I think the club have got it pretty much spot on here for what it’s worth.

It’s not like they’re very visible when 52,000 arses are parked on them.
