Haha, is that the goon pictured with Ashley and Llambias, on the training ground, towards the end of last season?

Promoting within may be the best option in this situation, could take a very long time to find someone willing to come to NUFC the way things are, promote someone already here means JFK does not control everything.

Rumours he is set to be appointed as the new chief executive at Rangers

If true, hopefully Ashley is nearing a sale of us and has made up with him

OOoohhh, liking the sound of that!

If they appoint llambias, thats a massive sign to me that Ashley will sell and takeover Rangers. Would make sense, his mate JFK gets one last payday, as does Pards etc all on decent contracts.

Imagine if he took Pardew with him.  :cheesy:

If Ashley is serious about a large stake in Rangers, he has to sell the majority stake in us doesn't he? Likelihood is in three years they will have all but guaranteed CL revenue, and the exposure than comes with it.

They could be our ticket to freedom.

Nope unless we both qualify for Europe and even then the holding companies will liable be different which may be a workaround.

I found this and posted in another thread yesterday, from Daily Mail when he was first buying into Rangers....

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2220289/Mike-Ashley-permitted-buy-Rangers-stake--Charles-Green.html

'I think we've already stated previously that he's not allowed to take a material stake because of the dual ownership position.

'It was made clear to the football league that it would be single-digit percentages. So it's below what I said to the financial authorities that no-one would hold more than 10 per cent. Mike will be under the 10 per cent level.

Also this...

http://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/dual-ownership-of-football-clubs.htm

Under the FA Premier League rules an owner of a football club or a director of a football club must adhere to the fit and proper test and must sign a declaration that they comply with this test. The fit and proper test applies to all directors and individuals holding over a 30% shareholding.

Accordingly anyone who owns or has the power to own a football club in the FA Premier League is regarded to fall outside the remit of the fit and proper test and unable to own another club.

Unclear whether that means in same country/competition though, or any other club.

Is there a rule that a person can only own one club at a time?

Thought it was the same country, hence Red Bull owning clubs all over and that Inter Milan fella owning an MSL team too.

From Wiki (so might not be fully up to date), but these are the football teams currently owned by Red Bull:

RB Leipzig – a football team currently playing in the German 3. Liga

New York Red Bulls (officially Red Bull New York) – a soccer franchise competing in the United States' Major League Soccer

FC Red Bull Salzburg – an Austrian football club based in Salzburg and competing in the Austrian Bundesliga

Red Bull Brasil – a football team currently playing in the Brazilian Campeonato Paulista Série A2 based in Campinas, Brazil

Red Bull Ghana – a Ghanaian professional football club located in Sogakope that plays in the Poly Tank Division One League.

Is there any situation where any of those teams might play each other?

Maybe its fine if the countries competitions wont clash, but the likes of English and Scottish teams, which could play each other in European Competition (however unlikely it might seem at present), may block that.

Salzburg vs Leipzig could clearly happen. Only Germany/Austria. Very similar to us and Rangers in fact, one in top division and the other low down in their respective country divisions.

Christmas has come early if this is true!

It's more like that DL's role here has been "filled" now. :hmm:

Fair enough, but I still wonder what the 'dual ownership' issue is that Charles Green spoke of at the time, in the Daily Mail article above?

He mentions the 'football league' but not sure if that's in Scotland or England, or both.

It may just be Ashley sorting his buddies out with jobs again, but something seems definitely off:

We're selling Rangers gear on our club website

He's bought shares in Rangers

His ex MD is now (looking likely) to be theirs

He has a history of buying failing brands, taking gambles and turning them around. Rangers, realistically, could be in European competition in a few years. With only 1 main rival in recent years in Celtic, could he be looking at this as a cheap and easy ticket to get SD European coverage in 'X' years?

The thing with ownership is both clubs are in different domestic competitions - if Red Bull are supposed to be looking at a PL team, and Salzburg got into European competition (lol, but hey it's an *if*) then there would be obvious conflict there right? Same with Watford - Udinese.

There's no smoke without fire, and I'm desperately clutching at straws now, but it does look like he'll shift us off and focus more on them. I hope. I pray. Don't fully understand the multiple ownership thing but.. here's to hope
