oldtype
Offer them £10 mil for him in the summer. Carroll doing a Robbie Keane would be interesting, to say the least
LRD
They should be looking to cross from wide areas or get free kicks and corners in dangerous areas instead of hoofing the ball direct from defence. Sadly Liverpool will be fine when they realise how to utilise him. I just hope it's nowhere soon.

AyeDubbleYoo
Do we have a 1st Option on him if he was to be sold. I'd be very surprised. Also, what a weird question a couple of weeks after they've signed him.

Lpool didn't understand how dependent he was on solid wing play. . So let's all hope they continue to display the same ignorance when it comes to Carroll. madras
Liverpool are already having the same problem we have had with Carroll in the team, and that is everyone is tempted to hoof the ball long and look for knockdowns. The Dalglish destruction of Liverpool's passing game has begun. which carroll isn't very good at. he wins everything in the air but unless he's in the box he has little idea where he's putting it. will liverpool learn that outside the box he's better with the ball on the deck than many realise ? TherealnorthernTOON
atleast the majority of the norwegian liverpool fans feel mugged off, I'm pleased.

Any manager has a difficult job to stop players launching the ball forward when there's a player like Carroll in the team. It's an easy get-out ball for defenders and midfielders who can't decide what to do.
Cronky
Carroll is a very good option if the opposition are being ultra-defensive and just packing their own last third, or if your team is chasing the game in the closing minutes and you end up in that similar attack v defence situation. When it’s difficult to play through a defence, Carroll gives you the option of going over the top of it. When Barca were trying unsuccessfully to break Inter Milan down last season, they could have done with the Carroll option for the last 15 minutes. Obviously that’s nothing to do with how his overall quality compares with his team mates, it’s a matter of the right man for the situation. At a top club, Carroll could well end up as an impact sub, or as a second choice starter.

Basically this Would be very satisfying to see Liverpool totally misuse the lad. He's not a target man so much as an extremely strong and tall forward. Minhosa
I must be the only one who thought he looked good last night........................... His hold up play was strong, he layed the ball off well and would've scored if it wasn't for the Goonie Heed getting in the way.

It was like the team had to slow down to suit Carroll's pace and style. Against Man U, their movement was much better.
Dave
People still clutching at straws I see. First he wasn't going to play again this season, then it was an injury that might plague his career, now he's not worth the money because his team was wank in one match. Give it up lads, he's going to be great for them once they figure out not to just smash it at him from the back every time.

Lenny
I'm still mixed about all of this, I can't bring myself to want Carroll to have a shit career, I want him to do well but just not for Liverpool, I can't stand them.
Beren
The continuing obsession with him is a bit baffling to me. At points last night, the Other Games Thread looked like the front page of threads on RTG after our 6-0 Villa win (and their 1-0 loss to West Brom). I know it was one of the few games being played at the time, but it's more the type of posts. I thought it would have abated by now is all, I suppose. Guest
It was his first start in a game where there was hardly any other football. Think it was obvious there'd be a lot of attention on Carroll from Newcastle fans.

I find it also really peculiar that immediately after yesterdays match, many users on this forum would seek out Liverpool message boards to 'see what they think of Carroll now'. His NUFC career is over, we should all move on.

Lenny
How is the obsession with him baffling by the way? I wouldn't personally say I was obsessed but I can understand it given that this lad was thought to be the future of our club, a geordie striker with the potential to be as big as Shearer was. He practically symbolised as a person the optimism and belief for the club going forward.
