Fast forward to 2nd week of next May.... Mike Ashley puts the club up for sale for the 3rd time and says he wants 70million pounds up front for the struggling Championship club.

Fast forward to last week of next May.... Derek Lambias, having streaked across the pitch naked says that 7 offers of over £70 million have been received from prospective buyers and that Seymour Pierce have been re-appointed to oversee the sale of the club.

Seymour Pierce say that a sale will probably go through by the end of June.

Fast forward to next June... No new signings. Last players from relegated side of 2009 sold for a combined  total of £3.5 million.

Fast forward to next July... Club will be sold soon says Keith Harris of Seymour Pierce. Barry Moat offers Mike Ashley £10 million for Newcastle United. Club to be definitely  sold by end of July or Christmas says Keith Harris of Seymour Pierce.

Fast forward to  day before transfer deadline day next August... Ashley announces that prospective buyers of the club will not pay the money he wants for the club so he is taking Newcastle United off the market again. Hughtons contract is extended by 5 years due to the remarkable work he has done in helping NUFC reach 13 th place in the Championship last season.

Fast forward to transfer deadline  day next August.. Newcastle secure signings  of Dean Windass, Paul Huntington and Teddy Sheringham to complement the remaining 10 members of the squad. The gibbering, slavering David Craig of Sky Sports News complements "Mike" for his sterling efforts at running NUFC and tells the country that the geordie fans are now 100 % behind Mike and Derek!

Fast foward to next October.... Newcastle United after 9 succesive defeats so far this season  appoint Dennis Wise as Chris Hughtons assistant.

Dennis  has vast experience in identifying players and has worked very successfully at the club before says Derek Llambias.

Well we've all sat around moaning like fannies and doing nothing about it for a year now, hardly surprising that there is a now official confirmation that we're totally fucked.

Would be very interested to hear what course of action you suggest folks could have taken?

The Sir John Hall Stand/Leazes argument in reference to the naming rights is a shite argument.  Naming the ground something different is a completely different kettle of fish.

To include something like that in this statement is unnecessary and I honestly think its been done to piss people off.

Fucking awful cunt that he is.

Can you imagine it plastered all over Sky Sports on matchdays.

'Off to Sports Direct Park to see how Newcastle are getting on against Peterborough'

Grey seats replaced with red and blue logos.

All the 'St James Park' signs replaced.

It doesn't bear thinking about.

Despite the appointment of Hughton and taking the club off the market, trivial though it may seem in comparison I think the stadium name rights thing will send most fans over the edge.

Totally agree

The Leazes FWIW, but there's a big difference between naming a stand after someone and flogging the name of 100 years of history down the river.

The Leazes was as old as the ground.

Apart from the guy who shouts over the PA who calls the SJH stand that? Everyone calls it the leazes end.

It is the principle of it all. It'll no longer be referred to as SJP in the press/on tv, it'll no longer say SJP outside the stadium. Regardless of the money it brings in, it always been SJP.

It's just like changing our strips to red and yellow becaus our new kit sponsors McDonalds are paying load of money.

He's doing it on purpose to see how far he can destroy this club before people snap.

I really don't see the problem with naming rights. Free money basically, and who the f*** will call it "The Northern Rock Arena" or whatever anyway? Still is, and always will be St James'.

It's not like these new stadiums (JJB, Reebok, Emirates) where the brand name is all that it's been known as as it didn't have a previous name.

And like I say, everyone still refers to the Gallowgate & Leazes rather than Exhibition & Sir John Hall stand, so really think it's mountains out of molehills tbh.

Let's change the colour of our kits to Sports Direct's red and blue too then.

Infact, let's change the name of the club, the kit colours and move it to a place nowhere near where it comes from.

MK Magpies should do the trick.

We're trying to get a few extra million quid in the bank by sponsoring.

Nowhere near as bad as what you're describing.

Do you honestly think we'll see a penny of that fucking money?

He's taking us for a ride, he's squeezing every last penny he can out of the club to try and prop up both his and his companies' increasingly dodgy financial footing.

I don't think it's just a case of "ooh, he's renaming the stadium," it's tantamount to yet more asset stripping. He's now trying to pawn of pieces of the clubs history to the highest bidder.

Can you imagine the uproar if the Glazer's renamed Old Trafford to the McDonalds Dome or Gillet and Hicks renamed Anfield to the Pepsi Arena? There'd be hell on and rightly so.

Ashley will not get nearly as much money as he thinks from renaming the stadium:

1. Its an established stadium that will be called St James Park by all locals no matter the sign on the outside - its not newly built

2. Who is going to invest in a rename/rebranding and deal with Ashley given his recent history with investors? Ashley has just f*cked Moat, paid Freshfields late, f*cked his shareholders in the City with Sports Direct PO, talked endless shit about all of his former managers and former employers, totally f*cked Freddie Sheperd, and f*cked everyone who has considered investment into NUFC - he's running out of people to swindle

This same logic applies to how much money he thinks he'll make by holding onto us. He's not going to get as much as he thinks he is. Plus the added fact that it is very possible that we won't be going up and without a significant investment (more in the order of 40 to 50 million) we are coming back to the CCC with a Derby County-like points total.

This will only get worse.
