Waaaah waaah waaaaaah Carrol is the worst player we have!

Yeeeeah yeeeeah yeeeeeah Carrol we love you!  :iamatwat:

Carroll is still f***ing s***, it's only statistics that with all the headers he f***s up one or two will sometimes be good.

That's 5 goals in 6.

So? If our target man was any decent it'd be more than that with our long ball tactics tbh.

If your being serious that is even funnier!

Of course I'm serious, anyone not wearing "He's a local lad, he's teh best since Shearahhhh lolz!!!11!1one!!1" glasses sees that.

Our target man should be getting a goal every game   Your funny.

Where was Carroll prior to his scoring run? If we had a target man that could actually steer his headers towards other players, and use his feet as well, we'd easily be a much better side. I'm not saying a target man needs to score, but Carroll offers nothing besides being lucky a few times in recent games. Ranger for instance, whilst still being very raw, shows sign of being a decent target man in that he can hold up the ball and actually aim headers. It's a shame he can't put them away. Carroll is just a young Tore Andre Flo tbh.

You should look at how many assists Carroll has, it might just surprise you.

I don't need to look, as I'm well aware. He's still not good enough to be first choice striker for us, I'd be concerned if he was our 4th choice striker, even. He'll never make it at the top level, and while he'll be good enough until we (hopefully) get promoted, we need rid of him in the summer and bring in someone that's actually a footballer.

Well it's not 'offering nothing' than is it, when he is scoring and assisting.  How about you put some logic into your next argument.

 Andy Carroll has 7 in 24 apps and 5 assists. We have 48 goals, which means he's been involved in 12 of them, which in itself doesn't sound bad. Though, when you look at all the chances he's had to set people up and to put more away, it starts to get more shocking. You can't waste that many chances, if we'd not have Nolan around fluking one in here and there earlier in the season, those errors would be much more apparent and could single-handedly be a reason for us being around mid-table rather than at the top of the table. He has 65 shots (headers included), whearas 20 have been on goal.  We're s*** at getting the balls to him though, but you'd imagine a player like the one you're describing would be able to produce more than statistically 2.7 shots a match, wouldn't you? I mean, after all, he has "5 in 6". But wait, 5 in 6? What happened before those 6? Oh, yeah, he did almost nothing. I can't find his completed pass percentage, but I'm fairly certain that when and if I do find it, it will be less than 30%. He's not a good striker, we're not a good team. It's not a good match when we need ability up front to make up for the shitness of the rest of the team, especially in midfield. If he can only get 56 shots fired in the Championship, what would he do in the Premiership?

He's not good, the numbers speak for themselves. What he does on the pitch speaks for itself. I'm not blinded by one lucky scoring run. Basically, he offers us pretty much nothing. I'm fairly certain even Ameobi would be banging some of the headers Carroll has missed straight in.

 Unbelieveable.

I'm just trying to remember which of Nolan's goals were flukey.

The team is a reflection of the manager, boring, no flare, no fucking idea, no confidence and lucky. Yes lucky because it is only because Houghton didn't rock the boat during all the upheaval that he was given the job. No other club on the planet would have wanted him as manager.

If we get lucky and get promoted, then he will be cruelly exposed

How anyone can put out a midfield of Guthrie, Smith, Nolan Routledge with a straight face is beyond me.  But the scary thing is he's put out worse midfields  :(

Anyway what a fucking joke of a performance that was, its hard to understand how a group of players can't even manage to put a few passes together.  Everytime we got the ball we either mis-placed the bass, smashed it forwards to nobody or pissed about until the opposition nicked it back..  About the only player on the pitch for us who looked assured in his passing was Coloccini.

our midfielders don't run = no options = players getting caugt on the ball.

I was so frustrated at players getting caught on the ball but realised they kept looking up but no one was comin towards it ( although in Nolans case he was just crap).

Swansea on the other hand- running all over. Non stop movement. Was impresseed when kuqi ran all the way back to outmuscle routledge or sImpson near the halfway line.

also pissed off with saunders singlig out colos "mistakes" in his analysis. He played well.

complete embarassment. completely undefendable.

apart from colo and routledge, they should all be ashamed of themselves and unless they pull their fingers out, promotion will slip away. i actually can't believe they'd play like that!

Nolan needs a rest.

His inclusion was justified because he grabs the odd goal, but he hasn't scored in 11 games and contributes very little.

To dominate central midfield you need stamina, you need to cover ground and put your opposite number under pressure every time he gets the ball. Nolan doesn't have the legs for this, and we get overrun.

What are the alternatives? Well Butt's legs have gone too. I know some will not agree with this but I'd give Smith and Guthrie a run together. Guthrie has been very hit and miss this season and he was awful today, but he was totally out of position and has been for most of the season. Given a run I think he can find form, and I believe that on form he is one of our most gifted footballers. People are always happy to give Barton 6 weeks to find form, yet Guthrie has never had a run in the middle at this level.

With everyone fit I'd say our best midfield would be Routledge-Guthrie-Smith-Gutierrez. Today I'd have considered R.Taylor wide right with Routledge on the left.

We were shocking in every department today though and one or two changes wouldn't have changed anything. They need a rocket up their arses because if Forest win today we are 2 points above the playoffs and it'd no less than we deserve.

THAT has to be our new midfield. I won't be happy unless this displayed. I am going to be furious for the rest of the season.

The fact that Guthrie is either not picked or rarely picked in the centre seems to make people believe he is a beasting centre mid. Face it, he's been crap through the centre and crap out wide.

i don't want to knee-jerk but by christ that was f***ing abysmal.   i don't think we strung 3 passes together all game and thankfully they were toothless or we could've seen a repeat of the drubbing we got off Derby.  The midfield were, well basically just inept, both with and without the ball, Nolan absolutely abysmal the other 3 in midfield just crap.  I'm not going to criticise the front 2 as the service the got was non existant, the only time we put a decent cross into the box Carroll buried it,

Just said what i was going to post so its pointless repeating it tbh

highlight of the game was the camera panned in on Nolan after 8 minutes, with him red in the face and looking knackered already.

Be fair to the bloke, he'd had to warm up before the game.

Be even more fair to him, he is said to lead the warm up, isn't he?

"Guess we'd better warm up as well, ey lads?"

It's also been pointed out that other strikers offer goals too, except a lot of the others offer more than that. Shola, Lovenkrands, even Ranger offer more than just goals. And before you say 'just goals!?' think about Nolan.

It's hard to say. Smith - Barton wouldn't work, Nolan - Smith doesn't really work, Butt - anyone doesn't work.

We should just bypass the midfield and play from our defence straight to the forwards.

What? The actual statistics of Andy Carroll this season? I know.

That's funny, your funny.

You're.

If you don't want to have an actual debate about something to defend your opinion, I'll resort to childlike petty replies as well.  :aww:

Actually, i dissected your massive post - just up above.  Where you contradicted yourself more than once

It's also been pointed out that other strikers offer goals too, except a lot of the others offer more than that. Shola, Lovenkrands, even Ranger offer more than just goals. And before you say 'just goals!?' think about Nolan.

Couldn't have said it better.

If there are contradictions, they're there because I'm not a native speaker of English and have probably constructed sentences wrong. Your dissection is pretty bad as well, mind. As you've bolded statistical facts regarding him this season were I say it doesn't sound to bad, before I go into describing why it still is bad. Then you've bolded that I say we're shit at getting balls through to him, which we are, which in turn I mentioned to describe how our midfield is not good and that we need a striker that can do more with the delievery they do get. Then you've highlighted where I've said he basically offers us nothing, which he doesn't, as we could easily play Ameobi instead and have a better striker on the pitch. Even Ranger, as I've mentioned before, has better hold up play. That said, I'll give you that Ranger has yet to develop the finishing skills needed to score the goals we need, so he's not a better choice as long as Carroll keeps getting lucky. Once Carroll starts to dry out, though, he'd be a better choice as he can keep the ball up and get it around to others better than Carroll can.

If you can't give more than a few badly pointed out examples (there are better ones in there if you tried to turn my words around to make your point) and a few  smileys saying "unbelievable". Your argument is pretty shit, and I'd appreciate it if you could actually make an attempt and explain why you think Andy Carroll is better than the rest of our strikers, besides that he has scored "5 in 6".

For god's sake guys. Lovenkrands offered fuck all in that much. Shola is forever injured. Jury's out on Best. We have a 21 year old striker who is scoring goals consistently. He may be lacking things from his game but he's still learning.

Enough of the fucking knee-jerking!

Shola doesn't offer anything except goals, in fact Carroll offers more than him, Ameobi is a better goalscorer - that i would agree on.
