I'm sure the 5 yellows = 1 game ban has ended for this season

This is the last game where it is in effect.

So, if Tiote got a 5th yellow tonight, would it effectively be redundant, or would he get the one match suspension?

So what happens in the games played on the 1st? Seems a bit of an unfair advantage if the cut off is the 31st Dec

They get a clean slate, just unlucky for us we are playing on the 31st. A fairer way would be for it to apply for the match today and tomorrows games

I don't think players get a clean slate. It's just that they have to reach 10 yellow cards to get a ban after 1st Jan.

You are right

Hopefully Tiote and Colo can get through today

Last season Tiote had 14 yellows and 1 red in 28 games, this season he has 4 yellows in 12 games so there has been a slight improvement on that front

Gave the ball away a lot today, played the ball to people who were already under pressure and were just passing it straight back when he did find the pass. Needs to stop trying to be clever and just lay it off to Colo or Cabaye.

Arguably our best player tonight. Thought he was decent. His mentality was refreshing, too, because he was the only one who attempted to do something with the ball.

Would have been annihilated without him tbh.

Tiote was bringing the ball out of defence and Jonas, Obertan and Cabaye (to a much lesser extent) we're either motionless or couldn't control the ball.  He put himself on the firing line by constantly showing for the ball.  He wasn't the problem today even if he was involved in their goals.  Need to look at the bigger picture.

He put Simpson in trouble with an awful backpass which made Simpson clear it which then lead to Gerrards goal.

Also , he hasnt learnt his lesson on the subject of dribbling out of defence, 50% of the time, he loses the ball.

he's no Jose that's for sure
