Sent this to my Nigerian mate and he's purchased it, crazy bastard!  It seems Shola splits opinion amongst Nigerians too, I know some that are absolutely mortified at his inclusion in the WC and others that think he might bring something else to the table.

Yes!

How many of our youth products have gone to a WC in recent years?

Depends what you mean by recent. If the normal definition - none.

10 years? 20 years? Around 30 and I can think of a decent number of names. By decent I mean 2 more.

Troisi is a Socceroo, Tim Krul. Milner was 18 when he signed for us (not really a youth player).

Other than that, Pattison was in the Provisional Squad for 2010.

Did Troisi play in a WC? Was he in a squad?

Tim Krul really barely counts. He didn't come through the academy. He spent a single year there. I'm proud of him too tbh.

James Milner was never a part of the youth set-up.

Shola Ameobi is the only Newcastle player in over 20 years (that I can think of) to have properly come through our Youth Academy and go on to a World Cup finals.

Triosi is in this years squad.

Did anyone watch the game?

Aye. I mean you don't expect much from a nation taking Shola to the WC but Nigeria looked shocking

It was disgusting. You would think Shola would never see the pitch over Emenike/Nwofor after that, but Keshi seems to have a sexual fetish for rubbish players.

So Shola gets in the squad and immediately turns rubbish again.  Reminds me of the one or two half decent performances he used to put in just before contract renewal time before, inevitably, reverting to being the most pointlessly fouling man in the world.

We're dealing with a genius here.

Still, it's Nigeria's problem now so :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Didn't notice this posted, apologies if Giggs:

"Former Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi is weighing up a move to Sydney FC, Sky Sports understands. Ameobi is a free agent after leaving Newcastle and it is thought Sydney FC have made him an offer to move to Australia."

Replacing Del Piero perhaps ?

Was keeping tabs on the game (mainly due to a bet on the US) and bar the odd attack Nigeria looked terrible. Will struggle to get a point let alone a win.

Ameobi was inspirationally bad.
