TRon
Until we get some more genuine left sided players in we definitely need him here rather than send him out on loan. Marveaux is an attacking player and we need players who can defend as well to give us some options from the bench. It was puzzling for me how we haven't had him there more often earlier in the season so I assume he must have been injured. With no genuine left back he's useful in more than one position. He picked up a bad injury during the Darlington pre-season game... He's only just come back from a 2nd injury picked up a few month ago...

Thought Marveaux was tidy all around when he played in the Carling cup. Need to get him consistently fit though. Fergie is an interesting one, he certainly offers something different and fresh and needs to be around players of the caliber of Ben Arfa to improve so sending him out would harm his progress as much as aid it imo. That said I don't see him getting a game or growing into a starter anytime soon. Gut feeling is that we will loan him out next year and cash in on him. ExiledGeordie
I've really liked the look of him when he's come on, tidy little player, has good speed and close control, plus he can defend. Will be a real asset to the squad.

Guti, Ferguson, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Amalfitano, Sammy for starters..
Guest MrSundlofer
He needs to develop - he needs first team football at a Championship club. Send him out on loan for next season and see how he develops.

I'd like to see him in OUR team. He never lets us down. But maybe a full season in the Championship (no lower) will add more to his already good game. toontownman
Maybe we can send him for a year in a premiership club? Just put in a clause so he doesnt play us. I'm sure someone would take him. He certainly needs to be around high level players and coaches. Playing experience in the championship won't be enough for him to improve to where we as fans at least want to see him. Will be enough for us to sell him at a profit though.
thorin
Yeah, what I'm talking about isn't necessarily Championship, but I would prefer him being in a league or team that has the physical presence that PL do. He's not too big of a guy and he seems a little weak (not that that is a bad thing, i.e Silva), but if so he needs to learn how to cope with it. I've liked alot of what he has contributed with, but he's definitively raw material and he needs to play consistantly or close to, more so than we can offer him atm. as I do not think he's "that" ready to be in the first team. I guess I'd also have to point out that I do not see him as LB material, more like midfield (winger) in a regular 442 as he can contribute both ways. I had hoped he could be a LB, but I don't think that's for him... unf. It's really great having people come through the youth ranks.
Guest Loven11
ALAN PARDEW has underlined the importance of Northern Ireland international Shane Ferguson and claimed the 20-year-old has a “big future” on Tyneside. The talented left-sided player helped open up Bolton Wanderers to keep United in Champions League contention. Pardew believes in stars like Papiss Cisse, Demba Ba and Hatem Ben Arfa, Ferguson has plenty of targets when it comes to his first-class deliveries. Yet Pardew feels Ferguson’s form and “energy” are coming just at the right time for the Magpies as they hit the final straight with just five games left to secure a place in Europe. Pardew said: I am a big admirer of him. “Shane gives us a bit of energy – he is positive. “You could tell we were lacking energy. “We were not bright in the mind against Swansea and Bolton – they were two tough games for us.” Pardew has encouraged Ferguson – who finally opted for Northern Ireland after a two-year tussle with the Republic for his international services – to produce more of the same. The Newcastle gaffer added: “He wants to cross the ball and that is brilliant when you have the strikers we have. “He put a few crosses in and won us a few corners. “He did his job defensively – he has a big future here.” Pardew is equally happy with the contributions of left-back Davide Santon. The former Inter Milan star has played in the last two matches after a dip in form which resulted in him being relegated to the bench. Pardew said: “I thought Santon had his best game for us – he was brilliant.” http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2012/04/13/alan-pardew-shane-ferguson-has-a-big-future-at-nufc-72703-30749467/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

gbandit
Pards gets a clap for that Ferguson should definitely be getting on in most games for thirty minutes as he's hungry, fast and will cause loads of problems against tired legs. Also, Santon deserves that praise. He was quality against Bolton

Cajun
The pub I was in absolutely loved him yesterday, when he was coming on "what the fuck, how old is he!?" then everytime he got the ball everyone (not even Newcastle fans) were cheering him and willing him on

Wullie
That was a really promising break he was on into loads of space down the left before Zabaleta scythed him down at knee height.
TaylorJ_01
Against Everton I'd love to see Ferguson - Santon as full-backs. Extreme attacking.
Sifu
The lad has a bright future here, he's looked decent every time I've seen him and has shown no fear whatsoever. Hope he gets an extended run of games next season.

Guest bimpy474
Interesting that when he came on Jonas went left back. Pards must not like him as an LB I reckon it was more that Jonas could have a breather and let Fergie go forward with fresher legs, Jonas look absolutely knackered after an hour.
