This is what I mean about Delaney. Coverage of club ownership and sportswashing is super important, but sometimes he just comes across as a bit of a whopper.

Tell this bitter cvnt that the reason we spent that in line with FFP and the reason we were down there is because of Ashley's underspending and general holding us back putting us at that disadvantage compared to these helpless other clubs.

Norwich weren't being held back and didn't have the capacity to do that whilst Everton have massively overspent

Compare net spends with the rest of the league without the £90m January spend. Then compare them with the £90m spend. Use a period of however many seasons under Ashley as you wish. The only advantage we have had is Howe spending that wisely and coaching the players he inherited in a way that has elevated their performances and our league position.

If league position directly correlated with financial spend, Everton should be a Champions League side. Our net spend competes with upper table Championship sides.

Even if it's an unfair criticism, I really wouldn't care if we did have an unfair financial advantage in January.

We didn't start all that. But we sure can finish it.

I enjoyed the reply questioning Guardiola's awards when he spends billions.

Club didn’t start using the @nufc handle until 2014, it was used by a randomer before then. You would have thought they would have deleted all previous tweets when they took it over

Every reply to that tweet in 2012 seem to think it’s the official account

Someone found articles from the time, definitely the official Twitter https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-start-twitter-row-with-fan-1321807

Wraith, an actor and event promoter, published a claim that he’d “heard that the rumours of player unrest are allegedly true and that reluctance to buy has upset certain players,” to his 6,500 followers.

He added: “It’s a shame because after last season we should be building on the success and we just haven’t. It’s all about saving money. As a club £nufc look set up for a fall again. Threadbare squad and alleged player unrest is a recipe for disaster.”

But in a swift rebuttal, that opened up the claims to it’s 106,000 followers, the @NUFCOfficial account hit back.

The club wrote: “Here we are again, @stevewraith attempting to disrupt the club with unnecessary negative comment. Would have thought league success and a return to European football is worthy of positive comment.
