I sit in the Gallowgate Upper and I noticed their second and third goals came during the "he just can't get enough" chant.  Jinxed it I tell ya!

Ba is just ridiculously good.  Including the offsides, he got the ball in the net 4 times, went close with the curler from the outside of the box and had the header after Vuckic rattled the bar.

He's pretty fucking ruthless, screwed when he goes to the ACN, hopefully Senegal go out first round.

He didn't 'just smash it', though. It looked, to me, as if he hit it with his instep. He's obviously just able to generate an incredible amount of power, even when placing a shot.

Him and Long would be some partnership..

I was all for signing Long during the summer but pretty much everyone disagreed with me.

I was with you brother. Always thought Long at all the attributes to do well in this league, he's quality and amazingly fast and fit (not in a gay way).

It was a great strike, but I thought Foster should have saved it, he got both hands to it.

Too hard, mate. It broke both of his wrists. The lad did well to play on.

Demba Ba refusing to panic after WBA defeat

by Lee Ryder, Evening ChronicleDec 22 2011

DEMBA BA has refused to panic following Newcastle United’s slump in form.

The 13-goal top scorer was the Magpies’ star man against West Brom last night but today admitted he would have gladly swapped his brace for three points as Newcastle signed out of 2011 on a losing note at St James’ Park.

However, the Senegal international – now the envy of clubs who turned him down in the Premier League – has called for calmness, despite a run of six games without victory.

Ba told the Chronicle: “I am not really worried to tell you the truth, when I look at this team and the spirit we have, the chances we create and the amount of bad fortune we’ve had.

“We’ve had offsides and chances going against the posts recently. These are just little things and to tell the truth I’m not worried. But it’s another game without a win.

“We have to stay realistic. It’s only our second season back in the Premier League. Having 27 points from 17 games then everybody would be happy.

“I hope the whole stadium stays behind us because I don’t think we are doing too bad.”

United were hoping to sit down for their Christmas dinner with 30 points in the bag – a feat that took until January 22 last term.

And while Ba was disappointed by last night’s loss, he is pleased to see United in seventh spot.

The philosophical striker, who endured relegation with West Ham last season, said: “To have 27 points at this stage is very good.

“If we’d started the season in the way we’ve played in the last six games then went 11 games unbeaten, everybody would be happy.

“We are just going to continue what we have been doing. I don’t think we are playing badly.”

Ba is delighted with his own form at the moment, yet said he would swap all personal glory for victories.

When asked if he’d exchange his two stunning goals for a win against West Brom, he said: “Yes – definitely.”

And reliving the tale of frustration against the Baggies, Ba said today: “We had a lot of chances, and we’ve came back after being 1-0 down and 2-1 down to show our spirit.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t hold out for a draw at least.

“We now go another game without a win.”
