Whether it's a red or not is a matter of opinion, the FA will never overrule the referee on a matter of his judgement.

Yep, a lot of commentators called it as a straight red, including Shearer - there's enough subjectivity that there's absolutely no way it will be overturned.

At the same time I don't think the appeal could be termed frivolous so can't imagine he'll get the ban increased.

Is the frivolous appeal even still a thing anymore? When was the last time someone had their ban extended because of it? Can't remember the last time it happened, and if it could, surely it should have applied as recently as Evans?

Don't understand what grounds there could be for an appeal. He made a clear foul, the referee judged it was worthy of red. Those ones absolutely never get rescinded.

On the grounds that it was a yellow at the worst, never a red card ever.

I agree it was never a red, there were no studs up or any real danger in the tackle, it was late and clumsy more than anything. But I find it hard to believe the FA will overturn it, since that would have to be a big admission by the ref that he was bullied by the Everton players into sending Colo off.

He didn't appeal. He denied the charge.

Jonas Gutierrez  Mike Williamson  Daryl Janmaat  Ryan Taylor

hahahahahahaahahahahaaaaaaaa

What was the back four during that match in like '06 against Man u where we started with the most terrible back four including Paul Huntington, David Edgar?

Given

Solano

Taylor

Huntington

Edgar

Dyer

Parker

Emre

Milner

Martins

Sibierski

Still managed that one 2-2 at home.

Dyer, Parker, Emre and Milner in midfield and Martins' pegging-back pace up top is about as easy as it ever gets for an NUFC back 4, mind.

And they also had a top keeper who although not vocal had experience, and Nobby Solano. Sibierski was also at the very least an out ball.

Raylor - Janmaat - Mike - Haidara for the derby. Superb stuff

At least Janmaat should, in theory, be better suited to deal with Defoes pace. Obviously his positioning will be all over the place, but that's the one positive I can muster up from this
