Gabriel Obertan signs for Anzhi

There was an article about Obertan the other day, and he was essentially saying he doesn't take time off, and trains through his holidays. He usually comes back already conditioned, and top in all the fitness tests. You can kind of see how the coaches would respect and appreciate that and want to reward it.

 

But yeah ... the sooner the others catch up the better.

Thing is, Aarons is a young lad who's inexperienced and been injured for ages. Obertan is a lot worse ability-wise but it's not as clear cut for a manager as some of our previous selection errors.

I hate selections of shit players as much as anyone, but McClaren is always going to take his time to assess and make some conservative choices. No new manager is going to go immediately win every attacking player the fans love.
