Cajun
A message on the paper’s official Twitter account read: “No truth in this story. The Sun was not investigating Gary Speed in any way.” Hope that's sincere. Of course they are going to say that. Maybe so, but it doesn't help to continue spreading rumours like this. That wasn't my intention, my intention was to point out how the media now appear to have sent a man to suicide. Baseless speculation, isn't that the sort of shit we hate the papers for doing? LesPaul
"After the show ended, at 1pm, he met up with Match of the Day pundits Alan Shearer, whom Speed had played alongside at Newcastle United, and Mark Lawrenson to watch the early Premier League game between Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers. Then, just before 3pm, he made the short journey to Old Trafford to watch his former team Newcastle take on Manchester United." I dunno why but this cheered me up a bit. Didn't realise he was at the match.

Dokko
Kammy is as genuine and as honest as any in football, he will be taking this hard, he comes out with daft stuff all the time, it's why he is on tv. Still, silly of him.
Stifler
Look, I'm not the only on here who has came on saying that theirs rumours going round about him. I don't care about any rumours about him in anyway, I think he was a great guy, a true gentleman. Maybe coming here saying what the rumours were going to be about was wrong, I hold my hand up to that but I done so in trying to give a reason why he might have been driven to his actions. madras
I'm the opposite tbh, I can't help but feel that there has to be a bigger picture to the event. I've been thinking this all day. I can't get my head around the fact that a guy who seemingly has it all, and everything going for him, has taken his own life. I'd sooner remain baffled than hear in the press that he'd done a giggs. thats the thing that many find so hard to grasp about clinical depression, it can strike at anyone, even those with supposedly everything. WarrenBartonCentrePartin
definitely think the club should seek dispensation from the PL to give Lovenkrands a new shirt number and retire the number 11 shirt.

This really shows you that there's such a massive difference between someone saying they're "feeling depressed" and the actual thing. I'm sure Gary was as happy as anyone when he was out and about and could forget about the "demons".
LesPaul
definitely think the club should seek dispensation from the PL to give Lovenkrands a new shirt number and retire the number 11 shirt. Given the circumstances I agree. I'm not one for retiring shirts left right and centre but due to the fact that it's not an ordinary death the number 11 shirt should be retired. Benwell Lad
Rumours that the Sun were going to run with accusation of him being gay. That's The Sun finished if true. New corp, it's time it all ended. Rupert Murdoch, how much blood on your hands do you want? it's more than just that, it's the populace that craves the shitey celeb scandal and tittle tattle, if the population didn't want it they wouldn't have a market to sell it to. So true.

Never agreed with retiring numbers and in this situation I'm still against it. Rather have someone come in and know the 11 shirt was worn by a great man and it needs to be filled, give someone the chance to make it their own, add to the shirts legacy.
