Hatem Ben Arfa

True. He's only approaching his 27th birthday. I'm sure he'll learn how to play it at some point.

OK, to match your nuclear sarcasm... we should use one of our other specialist number tens there instead.

Is that the only formation available then?

Yes, yes it is.

More than likely we'll play 4-4-2 with Shola and Remy up front. Unless we actually sign someone, of course. That might change things. If we get De Jong then i reckon it will be 4-4-2 with De Jong and Remy up front.

Ben Arfa isn't anywhere near patient enough to play the number 10 role.

I think that's a bit simplistic TBH, you could equally say Cabaye isn't quick enough and can't beat a player.

Well not really, because Cabaye is as calm as they come and has the ability to keep us ticking. If he was quick and could beat players he would probably going to Real Madrid for about £60m instead of PSG.

All true, but I'm talking about his theoretical ability to play the number 10 role. A position that is traditionally more about creation/goals than keeping the side ticking over.

Bergkamp wasn't quick.

Would love to see Hatem starting tonight in that role Cabaye has been occupying of late.

With Anita and Tiote 'holding'. Let's see what Pardew comes up with tonight. Probably 4-4-2 with Shola replacing Cabaye...

Going to be furious if that happens but I can honestly see it

That should work in theory but never seems to in practice - think HBA loses the ball too much playing there, which can be very dangerous in a central position.

Can actually see Sissoko moved into that role and Ben Arfa to the right. Sissoko is never a number 10, but I think he might be the best bet in a midfield three and just try to batter his way forward like against Chelsea and at Villa last season. We're seriously fucked for the next couple of months if we don't get Cabella or someone of that quality in.

I would rather move Sissoko into that middle position and ben arfa out right also, just seems more balanced that benarfa in that nº10 role, too weak and not enough of a team player to carry it out well
