s*** forgot about this lad, how many times has he played for them? Guessing he's been s**** then?

 

Training under Allardyce isn't exactly the best guide to a kid's worthiness (based on ability & early impressions) for a start in the line-up.

 

If Allardyce had stayed here Enrique (too much of a ball-playing fullback for Fat Sam's liking) would've rotted on the bench, or worse, once he realised that he had signed more than just a physical defensive beast.

 

Fat Sam, shortly after he signed Morrison, stated that he wouldn't start him for a while. Temperament aside,  it's quite a declaration considering that Morrison is a talent. I guess Allardyce's first priority was to deconstruct the ball-playing side of the lad's game (to fit into his anti-football gameplan) before being suitable for first team inclusion.

 

For football reasons (ie. his development) he was poorly advised to move to an Allardyce-coached team. It will be for the best (for Morrison, and the kids coming through what has been a productive academy) if West Ham fail to gain promotion, hopefully resulting in the trigger being pulled on Allardyce.

Isn't he due to triple his £20kpw wage if wham go up? I'd start him in the po final.

 

If thats true i wouldnt be surprised if there looking to offload him now, 60k for someone who got 14 minutes of Championship football. I mean atleast Smith played most of our season. And if he is stuck on that much nobody will go near him regardless of his talent, due to his lack of experience, there fucked if hes on a long contract unless he actually gets a run in the team and proves himself.

West Ham face losing Ravel Morrison over extraordinary clause for concern

 

Premier League-threatened club must quadruple midfielder's wages to £60,000 a week if they receive a £10 million bid for former Manchester United player

 

West Ham United fear being faced with a D-Day scenario over the future of Ravel Morrison in January because of an extraordinary clause in his contract.

 

Morrison’s £18 million release clause has already been made public, but there is a second clause about which the relegation-threatened Hammers are far more nervous.

 

West Ham have to quadruple Morrison’s wages to keep him at the club if they receive a £10 million offer for the midfielder.

 

Morrison earns around £15,000 a week and the clause states that he will be entitled to a pay rise to £60,000 a week if West Ham receive a £10 million bid and want to keep him.

 

With the Hammers’ Premier League status far from secure, it is unlikely that co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold would be able to afford to give Morrison such a big pay rise and turn down a £10 million offer.

 

Morrison’s current deal has 18 months left to run and West Ham plan to offer him a new contract and attempt to take out the clauses.

 

The transfer window opens in just four days and Morrison has attracted the interest of all of the top clubs after emerging as one of the country’s best young talents, and seemingly improving his behaviour.

 

Newcastle hold a long-standing interest in Morrison, having tried to sign him from Manchester United, while Fulham head coach Rene Meulensteen is also a big fan of the 20-year-old after working with him at Old Trafford.

 

With Morrison’s present contract running down and West Ham facing the threat of relegation, clubs may be reluctant to bid as much as £10 million for the England Under-21 international.

 

Aware that they cannot risk losing such an asset for next to nothing in the summer and that they would currently struggle to commit to a £60,000-a-week salary, West Ham may be forced to consider any January offers upwards of £5  million unless Morrison signs a new deal with no clauses.

 

Morrison missed the Boxing Day defeat against Arsenal with a groin injury, but he is expected to be in contention to face West Bromwich Albion at Upton Park on Saturday.

 

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has added a central defender to his January wishlist, with Everton’s John Heitinga a target, but at least one new striker remains the priority. Mladen Petric is set to be released, while Carlton Cole’s future is dependent on who comes in.

 

West Ham declined to comment on Morrison’s contract.
