NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

Sissoko was out of contract in 6 months when we signed him. If others wanted him so bad they could've bought him in the earlier September. Same with MYM.

It's just Krul & Cabaye that are likely to attract the big boys.

HBA needs to have a season without a big injury for once. He needs that kick-on season. 50 appearances in over 3 years won't have Manchester United kicking the walls down to sign you as a 26 year old. If he can stay fit and play over 30 games this season I do believe he would become a hot property. Massive if.

To be fair we paid £6m for Yanga-mbiwa even though he had only 6 months left.  The summer before they were wanting more than twice that which understandably put clubs off.

Yanga had a lot more than six months left on his contract. He'd only signed a new one a couple of months before we bought him.

Didn't he sign his contract with the proviso that they'd let him go still though, it was merely to avoid Montpellier losing out on a sizable fee for him?

A rare one considering the general strike tactic that Frenchies seem to like.

I was about to come and say that. He'd said all along he wanted a move but didn't want to screw the club over. Fair play to him, doubt many would do the same.

Despite all of this Mike Ashley has passed down the instruction to continue scouting efforts with a renewed focus on January, when the club have always believed there are better bargains to be had.

What like a player who is in red hot form will become available for a good price?

Looks like we'll just be targeting players who have 6 months left on their contracts then .

The Cisse signing stands out like a sore thumb because it's the only one that's demonstrated any kind of ambition. Alright, we made a fair few signings in the summer prior to that, but they were simply to replace the likes of Nolan, Barton and Enrique who all left (not to mention Carroll). I guess we signed Cisse because Pardew convinced them we had a real shot at the Champions League if we got another striker. When we didn't qualify, I guess that factored in Ashley's frugality and he reverted to/back to '17th will do'.

To Ashley, I think Cisse was signed partly with Ba's release clause in mind.

To Pardew, I think 4-4-2 was his tried and trusted formation first half of that season so probably thought him & Ba was fool proof.
