Shak
Krul - 9 - He's class like. Made some tremendous stops and couldn't be faulted on the goal. The amount he's improved in the last year is stunning, always been a tremendous shot stopper but just looks the total package now. Simpson - 6 - Becoming clearer every week that we'll need to upgrade in the summer if we want to be in this part of the table on a permanent basis. Just not good enough. Colo - 8 - Makes everything look easy at times, we need to extend this man's contract. Williamson - 7 - Thought he looked solid today. Will always be a limited player but a good squad player. Santon - 7 - Good today. Think switching to the right is going to add a whole new dimension to his game. Big, skillful and a great athlete, think he's absolutely made for the Premiership with the way he plays. Perch - 7 - Thought he did well. Like Williamson the guy is a limited player at this level, but did his job today. Guthrie - 7.5 - Did well at times and frustrated me at others. Some of his attacking play was great, put one on an absolute plate for Cisse who headed over. Kept us ticking over very well in midfield. Defensively he got caught quite a few times and we were lucky it didn't cost us. Let Keane run in behind him from a throw in the second half, and was standing around looking at Gardner for that late chance. Jonas - 7 - Typical Jonas performance. Defensively great, worked his balls off and carried the ball down the wing well. How I wish he had some end product. Raylor - Did alright while he was on, brave for the goal. Hope he's OK, would fear the worst though. Ba - 8 - First half he was immense, what a player he is. Can do absolutely everything you'd want a center forward to do. Incredible that we were able to get such a good player for nowt. Faded quite a bit in the second and wasn't as involved. Best - Not on long enough to rate. Cisse - 8 - What an outrageous strike, can't think of many better debut goals. Think he looks absolutely cut out for the Premiership, his movement is great and he looks very, very quick. Did very well in the build up play too. Actually snatched at his few half chances and then missed an absolute sitter when Guthrie teed him up, but more than made up for that with his wondergoal. Me Pappsta. Obertan - 6 - Better than normal, he actually showed a few nice touches. However he still looks like he doesn't have a clue what to do when he gets the ball at his feet with the chance to do something with it, he was very wasteful at times despite finding himself in some great positions. All in all a fantastic team effort and a massive three points.

FrenchWilliam
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew on his side's win over Aston Villa "We limited their breakaways, got the pressure building and we got the dream goal. Papiss Demba Cisse is like a a new signing for us and he wanted to do well but we must not forget the team ethic here. We've got players out but we keep winning. You need great players to turn games and it's a real bonus that he's got a goal on his debut. We've got dangerous strikers all over the place, we've got real firepower here. I expect us to be in the top 10 and we have less pressure than some of the top teams at the moment." fyq
Ashley17
Just got in, hurray for Dembas. Gritty win, far better second half after we stopped hoofing it as much. And I witnessed Obertan skin a man by knocking it past him and running round him, it only took 20ish games for it to happen, so that's another one off the list of things to see before I die. dinotheprehistoricgeordie
I still laugh at robbie keanes embarassingly awkward goal celebration. So cringetastic seeing him doing a laboured cartwheel and a podgy rollie poly http://cache4.asset-cache.net/xc/138301455.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF8789215AB089EE596C65888762044CD8EDD0C636DD35ADDBC95C367861EAB674668E76 His face! http://i.imgur.com/XOpBT.png Dave, cut him out, spin him 180 and set him along side Bob Stokoe. Newcastle Fan
MCcleish is a horrible manager, Ireland and N'Zogbia were causing us loads of trouble and he took one off at half time and replaced the other with Heskey..fucking hell..

Guest
Subbing Ireland & N'Zogbia was ridiculous. A good manager and Villa would be around 7th-8th imo.
Minhosa
Subbing Ireland & N'Zogbia was ridiculous. A good manager and Villa would be around 7th-8th imo. The weirdest subs I think I've seen. If they had started the second half as they finished the first we'd be sitting here slating our lot for not coping with their passing and movement. Ketsbaia
So were the mackems cheering on their good friends at Villa? Or did they have a lovers' tiff after selling Bent?
Guest Howaythetoon
MCcleish is a horrible manager, Ireland and N'Zogbia were causing us loads of trouble and he took one off at half time and replaced the other with Heskey..f***ing hell.. I would be telling him to fuck off if I was playing for him, he was constantly berating his players and shouting negative stuff, almost Souness like. That's one of the good things I like about Pardew, he's positive on the touchline encouraging his players and if he instructs, he does it not by screaming and basically trying to tell his player how to play the game or do this or that, but by way of information. Their first half performance going forward is the best I've seen from a visiting side this season. Absolutely rinsed us repeatedly with some slick passing football.
