CHEICK TIOTE says he will not risk himself in Monday’s huge game with Bolton Wanderers after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury at Swansea yesterday.

Tiote limped out of the game at half-time at the Liberty Stadium.

But he will not rush back for the visit of the Trotters if there is even a slight chance of making the problem worse.

He told the Chronicle: “I don’t want to take any risks and be out for four or five weeks.

“I preferred to stop after the first half. We’ll have to see if I’ll be ready for Monday or not.

“If I’m not ready for Monday, I think I’ll be ready for Stoke. It’s a long break, which is good for me.

“It’s not easy when you miss one or two games because of injury. But I take the positive side. I’m a footballer, and I’ve been fit all my career.”

Tiote has suffered niggling injuries throughout the season and was hardly helped by the interruption of the African Cup of Nations in January in which he went all the way to the final with the Ivory Coast.

Reflecting on his latest injury blow, he said: “It’s a bad moment for me, but it’s OK, because it’s not a bad injury.

“Some players are out for six months or a year.”

But despite his obvious disappointment, after the seventh away win of the season for the Magpies he poured praise on his team-mates and man of the moment Papiss Cisse.

He said: “It was a brilliant result against a good team.

“They played well, but we used our experience to win this game.

“We defended well, and it was a good result.”

“For the team, Papiss is the best, as he’s scoring every game.

“He’s important for us – he’s doing a great job.

“Everyone’s happy for him.”

I see a win here but a tight game where we struggle to get the first goal - enter Papiss Cisse.

Really hope Ba pops up with one of his trademark class goals as well

We've got so many early goals recently. It's brilliant. Complete opposite to the start of the season where I can't recall a team which was slower out of the blocks than us. Really helps to settle the crowd at home, too. :)

Every game til the end of the season will be massive, must win and the hardest yet. We said the same last weekend, the same yesterday and will be saying it against Stoke, Wigan, Chelsea etc

Think it will be tight, but Bolton really are fucking shite. 2-1 win.

If Colo isn't back:

                        Krul

Simpson - Williamson - Perch - Santon

        Cabaye - Jonas - Ferguson

              HBA - Cisse - Ba

This for me too. Perchelele in his preferred role.

Can't see Colo playing in this either.  Can't see much changing between Fri and Mon, obviously there is a cut off point somewhere but I can't see him being risked either way.

I think he is fine but Pards didn't want to risk him with 2 games in 4 days.

A huge advantage for us is that we have an extra day of recovery over Bolton.

I'd sooner just keep Coloccini for the Stoke match. Happy with the Perch-Williamson partnership for one more match anyway rather than risk him.

Yh me too as long as Cabaye is fit id go with the same team that started the second half against Swansea and if Tiote and Coloccini are fit enough then bring them back in for the Stoke game.

On a different note, does anyone know how long Guthrie is out for?

I think it was made pretty clear that Colo would be back for this game. If that's the case, that would be another massive boost.

I also think Tiote will miss it but Cabaye will play, therefore this:

Krul

Simpson

Williamson

Coloccini

Santon

Perchelele

Cabaye

Jonas

HBA

Cisse

Ba
