Just spent a few minutes playing with a gif of the tackle and removing Haidara from it. You can see McManaman come in to play/clear the ball normally but then his movement changes into a locked straight leg. This un-natural  movement starts before he plays the ball and certainly looks like he goes in to do Haidara.

What did you use to do that?

At the end of the day, regardless of what the officials did or didn't see at the time, TV replays and photographs afterwards have proven that the challenge was reckless, OTT, a potential leg breaker, etc and it should have been punished once that became clear, even after the event.

Its not about re-refereeing the game or undermining the officials, as they put it, and no it wont give us 3 points or change the result - it should have been about sending out a message that those kind of challenges aren't acceptable, and potentially protecting other players from that kind of challenge.

Anyhow, BBC Total Sport tonight reckon he's only a bit bruised and will be back for Man city.

Massadio was scanned yesterday and will continue to be assessed for the remainder of the week.

He will undergo a further scan next week in order to determine the extent of the damage caused. Contrary to comments in the media, there is currently no timescale for his recovery.

Didn't see 'full extent' of tackle, no action taken at the time. No retrospective action.

Did see the halftime scuffle, action taken at the time. Retrospective action also taken.

Couldn't f***ing make it up. Some c***'s getting a backhander here.

Is the correct answer.

yep, think this culture runs to the core of the FA

Aside from the horrific challenge; watch it again and see how he immediately races to gain possession of the ball after connecting with someone's knee.

You'd think someone who wasn't a complete sociopath might stop in their tracks after that.

Well this is a f***ing disgrace from all involved at the FA. Words can't describe how everyone involved at NUFC must be feeling right now.

Disgusting behaviour, they're pretty much condoning what McManaman did and that sets a dangerous precedent. Seriously it's things like this you think f*** football.

f*** Wigan and f*** their insignificant club. Would love to see them get relegated and go out of business.

Feel a bit persecuted by the FA this evening tbh.  They must hate us, there's no other explanation for it.  Whoever said earlier that it could be something to do with the Michael Owen thing might be on to something.

Anyway, feels fucking great to know we'll be sending our players on to the pitch for the rest of the season with hardly any protection whatsoever, with opposition players given carte blanche to do whatever they like.  If that challenge wasn't deserving of retrospective action then what the hell is?

Hope we're seeking legal advice because this feels like the opposite of justice.  Horror challenge, followed by player showing no remorse, player getting applauded off, opposition manager/owner trivialising the challenge, silence from player, then the FA taking no action.  Something needs to change because this isn't working.

First thing he does is a deliberate hand ball to stop our attack. Little shit, hope he's kicked to fuck soon.

Hope wigan survive, gonner wait for them next season and chuck a bucket of Tapas owa Martinez, the little bamp.

A whole bucket? That's gonna cost a shit load man. A bucket worth of small plates in Newcastle is gonna set you back a few hundred quid.

Unless Wallsend has a bargain Tapas basement that I'm not aware of.

Fuck that, they deserve to go down now more than ever. Hope we draw them (at home) in one of the cups and we sign a bunch of cloggers just for that game to beat the living shite out of them.

Yes I'm petty about this, fucking livid with this whole situation.

How about waiting for them to be relegated, and take over their ground for their first home game.

It doesn't matter if Wigan survive or not, they are that flukey that I think even when they eventually do go down they will come straight back up in anyway.

Clubs like that don't often come straight back up, it's a wonder they've been in the Premier League as long as they have.

Dave Whelan, Monday: "I am not going to criticise Norman Deeley - these things happen in football. He came over the ball but he didn't do it with the aim of breaking my leg."

Dave Whelan, Lancashire Evening Telegraph 2010: "Norman Deeley came right over the ball. Today he would have been sent off and banned for a long time. He came six inches over the ball, he came for me not the ball."

Bunn's red upheld and will serve 3 match ban for handling outside the box, Zaha gets a 1 match ban for making a gesture to Leeds fans.
