Steve Bruce would be a good fit for Newcastle

He said it was disrespectful to be touted for the job with Alan Pardew still in the hot seat at St James'. Yet he didn't rule it out in the future.

Deep down there will be part of Bruce -- a boyhood Toon fan -- that wants to lead out the black and whites as boss. Bruce will have family at the game and knows he will enjoy his post-match beer back in the North-East if he can pull off another win against the Magpies in their own backyard.

Putting aside his Sunderland links, he's scored a few points in recent times with Newcastle fans. Taking Steve Harper and Hatem Ben Arfa to the KC Stadium at Hull shows he appreciates the values of players who still have something to offer, whether on the field or off it.

If he gets the best out of Ben Arfa he will certainly tick a box for some Geordie fans. Throw in the fact that he won promotion with Hull, stabilised the Tigers and reached an FA Cup final last term, plus a brief stint in Europe, and he hasn't done a bad job.

If anything, it's probably one of the best he's done as manager since hanging up his boots. His stock in management could rise even higher if he gets a famous result at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon. In my opinion, rather than being nervous, he will be rubbing his hands at the idea.

Bruce knows St James' Park inside out to start with, but with Harper and Ben Arfa by his side, he can tap even deeper into the knowledge and mastermind another win.

Oh, that Steve Harper that was part of the infamous 'Player's Union' that got Hughton sacked and all members of were either released, sold, or made to rot in the reserves.

Well researched there.

How did the players get Hughton sacked?

Those players were sold because they cared about the club and wanted to see it do well. They've deliberately been replaced with timid nobodies who couldn't care less.

Harper, Enrique, Nolan, Cabaye, Barton, HBA, Ba - all players who publically stated they wanted the best for NUFC, whether they were good enough or not, all players shoved out the door unceremoniously.

Krul will be next.

I think throwing Cabaye, Ba, Enrique and Barton in there is going a bit too far.

Cabaye and Ba, I'd accept. Barton and Enrique no, even if the former shouldn't have been here in the first place.

Anyway, if you stand up to the powers that be, you're out.

The hijacking of his logo will not bother Ashley one bit he will probably be perversely pleased that fans are holding his colours up, the fact that pardew will be genuinely humiliated in front of millions of people is what Ashley should feel bad about but his company will again get publicity at the expense of a knackered dog that should have been put down ages ago

There are so many managers that are con men in England.  They literally just get their chairman to spend much more than needed, so that when enough has been thrown at the wall something sticks.  When you think of the team Pardew nearly got relegated, which actually had Ba for half a season, Cabaye and Ben Arfa.  We were awful all season, even before the Europa started.  Giving some of these second rate charlatans top players is like giving a rubbish celebrity on British Bake Off top ingredients.  If they can't bake then they're going to end up with some sagging monstrosity of a cake no matter how good the ingredients are.  Compare that to a real Baker and you could give him 50p worth of ingredients from Aldi and he'll still make you something tasty.  Unfortunately we're the sagging monstrosity of a cake version.

You can just see Pardew is that guy who has no clue, but can blag it.  He's good at talking himself up to his mate Ashley but never delivers anything of any worth.  Compare that to someone who I don't even like as a Manager, Tony Pulis and the difference is vast.  He took a Palace team that looked awful relegation material and nearly got them in the top 10 at our expense last season.  He looks at what he's got and finds a way to use it, analysing the strengths and weaknesses of the team.  Pardew still thinks Newcastle should be defensive despite us having no ability in that area.  It's literally maddening.

We actually give managers too much time in England.  This kind of thing just isn't accepted in Spain and Italy.  Once they judge a manager incompetent they're out the door and rightly so.  Doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results is the definition of insanity.  That perfectly describes Pardew and Newcastle.  We're persisting with the same thing over and over and the result will be more heavy losses.  That's why at this point the anyone but Pardew option is looking better and better to me.  We currently look like we'll never win a game again.

To be honest our clubs are often criticized for being too quick to fire managers, particularly when compared to England.

Fair assessment of Pardew, though. To me, the biggest indictment you can lash at him is how your team is much less than the sum of its parts. That's the most basic thing to ask from a manager.

Not Bruce anyway. Like for like.

Bruce is about the best we could hope for, Ashley does not pay enough for anyone decent. Plus would anyone decent really want to work under Ashley?

So much wrong with this post.
