After these latest developments I don't know who comes out of it worse. The football club for continuing to play him even though it was obvious it was one of those no smoke without fire cases or the supporters of the football club, many who would have bairns themselves, cheering him like a hero and serenading him with a "shags who he wants" song.

As for Johnson, you've got to hope justice is served swiftly and without mercy and he gets everything that's coming his way.

If there's any justice that club is going down and won't darken the top flight of English football for many years to come.

The club could hide behind the fig leaf of "innocent till proven guilty", the fans have no excuse whatsoever and tbf the mackems I know said he shouldn't have been playing till the case was over.

However if it comes out the club knew the truththen the rest of football should feel the way about them that we already do.

The question to ask is

'How much did the club know and when did they find out he was pleading guilty?'

In fairness he only pleaded guilty himself at the last minute. It mightn't have been cut and dry.

The club must have asked him about his plea before today.  He may have decided at the last minute but it's unlikely I would have thought.

He has been lying to Sunderland throughout.  Their response will be telling, I bet their comms and PR people are in meltdown

Pretty much this. Watch them and you'll soon see how much they knew

Just searched "adam johnson nightclub" on twitter for funsies. What a world we live in

I just did the same.  Urgh.

Where does that story keep coming from, anyway?  Are people just assuming this is what happened?  He's admitted to knowing she was underage, as well.  But people seem to continue to ignore that fact and are saying he's been stitched up by a 15 year old, in a nightclub.
