Scrolled down me fb page and seen him wearing a sunderland  jersey couldn't believe it tbh thought it was a piss take or something ... Always had time for harper  but he's went down in my estimation now .... No loyalty in football anymore now show some one the queens silver and  they lose all of their moral values !!!!

  It's not like Colback running down his contract so he could head straight to his team's rivals.  We didn't give him a new contract and he'll probably not even get a game for them, so what has loyalty got to do with it?

He's come to the end of his career and wants to get into coaching.  He's been offered a chance to do that in the region he's lived all his life.  Can't begrudge him that, it's not like we've offered him the chance to do it here and he's turned it down.

It's a shame I suppose, can't say I'd do it myself in his position but then I don't begrudge him for squeezing a bit more out of his chosen career if it brings him a bit more money before retirement. I'm looking at him as special agent Harper , unless he makes a save that keeps them up in which case he's a cunt  ;)

Hes from Horden and played for Seaham Redstar, whilst he was at us a while he's not exactly a staunch Geordie. Also not the first to cross over to the dark side.

Am I not allowed to feel emotions now ? All I'm saying is  that after the testimonial and all that shite I just thought he wouldn't do it

Aye, it was a total dick move raising all that money for charity.

This basically. Can't say I'm not surprised and a bit disappointed, especially after getting a testimonial from the club. Not mad, but it's a shame.

He was only here for well over a decade and a good servant to the club. But aye he's signed for Sunderland so we should give him nothing but dogs abuse and cry about him doing what is right for his profession  grown adults ffs.

He's been a total non entity as a professional footballer. Literally made a living out of not quite being good enough so playing the dependable understudy. Fitting that he'll end his time at Sunderland.

My mate whos round was Darras Hall when he worked for the Royal Mail always said you couldn't meet a more rude, ignorant person than Steve Harper and used to hate having to get him to sign for parcels. As a side note he loved delivering to James Milner who used to order a ridiculous amount of porn but was a top bloke!

Ffs why shouldn't he sign for them? Good luck to him, he seems a good lad, he's hardly left us at the height of his career and gone straight there. If he's in goal when they play us I for one will warmly applaud him.
