NUFC transfer rumours in the press

See loads of people who think Rhodes is class and could definitely do it at the top level. Can't say I've really seen much of him to say so either way, what makes most people confident that he can?

It would certainly cost a lot to find out.

We need to stump up and pay the going rate for a goal scorer, you can throw 8 million at strikers and get shit but pay double that and if you've scouted properly you'll get goals. It's hardly breaking the bank and should avoid the need to throw money at the January window.

We may need a centre half but we need goals more.

The only positive is that Pardew may come a cropper. It was painfully obvious in pre season that we don't carry a threat where we need it most.

I haven;t seen him much at Blackburn, but at Huddersfield he scored his goals mainly in and around the box. He could score a screamer too, but he mainly attacked balls coming in from diagonal or from the side. Or he would pick it up already standing in the box. Obviously this was League 1, like. Doubt he'd get anywhere near as many chances with us. If we buy Rhodes we've got to have more than 2 or 3 players in the final third in attacking situations if he's going to score enough to make him worth buying. We all know that won't happen.

According to Sky Sports Paper Talk:

"Newcastle have been watching former Cardiff striker Andreas Cornelius."

:anguish:

Is that bad? He is a talented player. He would probably cost more than he's worth right now, but nothing wrong in watching him.

He is good and has the potential to play in the PL. Cardiff treated him poorly. So young - only played 1 season for FCK before he was sold. He was injured for about half the season at Cardiff. Watch him become good - but we probably need someone more proven atm.

For the mooted fee, we can surely do better than Welbeck. He's linked to Everton anyway and given the choice of Pardew or Martinez, any sane player would know which one to play for.

Could get Lacazette for the same money. Problem is we won't spend the money we need to.
