The two Alnwick lads I know are Sunderland and Liverpool fans, must be something about that town. Mind Rothbury are my local team and I go to watch Alnwick so I'm just as bad

I knew a lad who supported Liverpool from ashington. His brother supported Everton or Villa or something too. Weird set up.

😀 The great majority of Alnwickists support the toon. Just not the 100% it should demonstrably be.

Remember an "Alnwick Reds" flag goading us at Old Trafford when we got our first Premier League point and not going down well.

I was there. Think I went on a double decker from memory.

Absolutely rancid this and I make no apologies for judging someones entire character being from the NE and "supporting" that lot or anyone else for that matter.

I worked for a big company in the North East and two brothers at our depot (Team Valley) were avid Man Utd fans.  When I asked them why, their response was "we've ALWAYS supported them".  They were in their twenties ffs.

Hang on. Did you actually think it was Phil Jones on the flag? [emoji38]

I can't remember the season or the match we were going to.

But, in the early 80s you used to go to away matches via the official supporters club if you were a young 'un .  then you went via train and daft busses etc as you got older.

I do remember going to an away match via the official supporters club and seeing lots of Armstrong Galley coaches full of NUFC fans heading to where ever..then another Armstrong Galley bus full of....Man Utd fans..Gateshead branch passed us !  Just the one but fucking hell !

Apparently Gateshead had one of the biggest branches of Man U fans in those days ? Dunno if it was true I just remember hearing that ?
