What LVG had to do this summer was decide exactly what formation he wanted, what players he wanted for certain positions in his team. Instead, he appears to be splurging an astronomical amount on several quite good players with the assumption that it will all work out.

Aye, still baffling how they've not signed a top centre half as yet, as well as a centre forward. Minus Falcao and Van Persie this season, plus Welbeck from last year, they've got Rooney...who else? Hernandez!? Can't see Depay playing centrally...

Still time really - I think they want Cavani as part of the Di Maria deal providing Ibra stays there.

Also maybe holding out on the De Gea - Ramos swap if the press is to be believed. That leaves them short 2 keepers mind.

LvG not certain if Di Maria will still be a ManU player when the season starts.

His boss Froggy is absolutely, utterly, totally, completely, wholly, entirely, fully, abundantly certain that Di Maria will not be sold this window.

Means he will be here.

He's joining the tour on the 25th along with Rojo and Hernandez.

According to pretty much every one in the Italian media(not just a couple of random reporters) , Vidal is going to Bayern for 35m plus bonuses.

Juve are looking at Gotze, Oscar and Draxler as replacements (seems like they feel they have enough CMs and want an AM)

I'm almost hoping Benteke goes now.

Not to Liverpool, though, he can do better than that. Some of the shite from Liverpool fans about him on twitter is remarkable. Not good enough, by all accounts. Personally, I think he could get a better move than that, but hey ho.

He's definitely too good for us, though, so 32m will be a decent amount of money for us to strengthen the squad with.

Apparently Amavi, the Nice LB, is having his medical tomorrow, Gueye is signed already, Delph is staying and we're in for a mixture of promising sounding players from the continent.

A new striker to replace Benteke and a couple of bits of quality elsewhere and I'd be relatively pleased with the way things were going.

What happened to that tall fella you bought the other season who played upfront? Is he still there?

Kozak? Broke his leg pretty badly, just returned to training at the end of last season.

He did ok for us, 4 in 12, I think, not bad, before getting injured.

Truly cringey.

He's already considered a worrying gobshite by a lot of our fans.

However, he made the last quarter of the season pretty exciting to watch whereas the previous several years have been about as much fun as witnessing your own death (over and over again).

He also seems to have understood that our fans have had absolutely enough of the sort of predictable, British, overpriced guff players we've had foisted on us for years, and has fully realised there's a bigger market out there in Europe.

Something Lambert understood too, but only to a point.
