The Eagles' offer is around £6million, but incentives and bonus payments could take it over the £9.5m mark.

£6m seems quite reasonable for a 22 year old Englishman that has played regularly for a Premier League side in this day and age. If he becomes a star and starts banging in the goals to activate the £3.5m in add-ons then it has been more than worth it.

A shrewd piece of business by Pardew.

I actually believe Wickham has it in him to be a good player. It is not a bad signing. The price is not too clever, but he is an English attacking player, so it is expected. Two years ago, Dwight Gayle was older than Wickham is currently and playing for a side that was relegated from the Championship. He cost eight million pounds. The market is very silly.

yep, unlike the market for non english players. For example;

Ross McCormack £11m

Liam fcuking Brady £7m

James chester £8m

Fellaini £27.5m

Lovren £20m

Lukaku £28m

Mata £37m

Its almost as if the high transfer fees between english clubs are as a result of the enormous money in English football., rather than the nationality of a footballer, but let us never forget the golden rule of Newcastle Online. If you can spuriously figure out a way to slag off England in some sense, you take it, safe in the knowledge that if anyone contradicts you, just call them a member of the EDL and it will all get forgotten about.

He's got a macro on NO where if someone says something mean about English people then he comes in and basically tells everyone he's in the EDL. Every god damn time.

Anyone who insists upon there being any form of consensus on anything, on a web forum of twelve billion people (who spend all day calling each other cunts), has a screw loose.

This lincoln_gimp character is an absolute weapon. Probably scared to leave his house in case he runs into any forrins so sits at home browsing other clubs forums for posts he can try and feel offended by.

English players carry a higher premium because of the "home-grown" rule. I bet you knew that though and still decided to bleat on about nothing.

I'd pay 7m for Liam Brady even at this stage

You are a member of the EDL, BNP and Britian First.  Hopefully, this will all get forgotten about.  As this really is a car crash of a post.

I don't know why, but I imagine you look something like this bloke:

Wilson from Bournemouth would've been a better signing. He puts himself about in a similar way as Wickham and has a better goal scoring ability than Wickham will ever have.

Even at Ipswich I don't recall Whickham being an out an out goalscorer (granted he was only 18 though iirc).

There's something in him to be a decent player, but I don't know if he has the mentality or wants it enough, so I see him failing. I absolutely hope he does.
