Pleased he's kept Cathro at the club. He could be utter dog shite for all I know but he's highly rated and has talked sense when he's spoke in his interviews.

Hated that Steve Black though so glad he's been sacked off.

Hated him why? Genuine question. Only time I saw him was when he was trying to rally the dafties on the pitch pre-match once.

Bit like Cathro in sense he could be absolutely brilliant or dog shit for all I know. It was more his little grins and smiles similar to McClaren when things aren't all rosey that just done my head in. Won't be seeing him on the pitch arms around their shoulders, laughing and joking anymore.

Black is so 1990s. He methods and philosophies don't wash in the mordern game. He may be able to help certain individuals, but a whole team? I'm sure it was his idea to stage behind closed door matches with local sides which we all know went great...

Blackie did a motivational presentation at my work a couple of years ago. I've never seen so many PowerPoint slides in my life, he talked for about 2 hours with the most uninspiring slides

I can just imagine him doing that with a bunch of our foreign lads just thinking shut the fuck up

As if he actually regularly did hour long team meetings with a Premier League football team man  Also shows how weak McClaren was allowing him to do it

Mentioned in his interview that he received strong references relating to Cathro and Smith. Don't think Benitez would have kept them on if he hadn't. Although, I do think there is a justifiable element behind having local knowledge among the staff. Pecchia was brought in to his staff at Napoli because he wanted that local expertise. Similarly, I recall he had Sammy Lee as coach at Liverpool.

He also mentioned hiring Zenden at Chelsea due to this as well.

Fabio Pecchia - 42 year-old Italian-born ex Napoli & Juventus midfielder who served as assistant to Rafa during his time in charge at Napoli and Real Madrid.

Antonio Gómez Pérez - 42 year old Spanish-born ex Real Madrid midfielder who has worked with Rafa at Liverpool, Napoli and Real Madrid.

Francisco de Míguel Moreno - 43 year-old Spanish -born strength and conditioning coach who has been with Benitez at his last five clubs.

Unreal, who is now going to take responsibility for SDJ's injury roster

I reckon there's a reasonable chance they'll be moved on at the end of the season if we stay up.

Aye, i think so too.

I wonder if Carr becomes a director as in the coming days as well.

I'm sure they would if he see them not implementing what he wants on the training ground. Smith especially is vulnerable as Valero has been a key member of Benitez's staff for the past decade.

He explains who they are in this interview

Just watched that now. I've never seen a manager with such a clear sense of direction and self belief at this club. Keegan and SBR were one offs just because they could inspire a city emotionally, but this guy is probably what we need right now. I feel twice as confident already having watched that interview.
