The way the play bulilt up it would have been very hard for a fast midfielder to get near Cavani to stop him there, let alone Shelvey. Lascelles is fully to blame, it already happened once before and he didnt even look to see where he was and wasnt even close enough to block the shot. If you watch how many times Schar check where Ronaldo in on the same bit of play you'll see what he should have been doing

Exactly this - it's Situational Awareness 101.

This lad is exactly why we're prioritising a central defender over the other pressing need for midfielders. An absolute liability all game and out-jumped with ease for their goal. Total fucking dog shit, always has been always will be.

He’s costing us dearly this season. He makes a costly error anytime we look likely to win a game. He should have been a rock today. Bringing everyone together, telling them what to do, pulling them in to position. Instead he bottled it.

That should be his last game for us. If that didn’t convince the new management/owners to go all out to get who they want, then there’s a problem.

What an absolute gutless performance. Running around like he was stuck in a bog. Lunging around the place to try and cover his poor positioning.

Those criticising Trippier on the match thread were so wrong, he was literally trying to play 2 roles in the side today and was more convincing in the air than our “captain”

He’s was actually decent under Benitez and played good for his reign, but ever since he got hit with long covid last year he’s been complete dog shit.

Civic hits people in different ways, guy at work had to retire through it, yep if he's suffering long then shouldn't be anywhere near the field of play
