Wullie
Suspect you could take a period of a match from every team in the Premier League and say they won't go down based on that. Sunderland themselves were 2-0 up against West Ham last time out before having a man sent off. They actually scored before the red, twice, they didn't just have a load of the ball and create nothing more than a couple of half chances.

I'm not certain we'll stay up or go down tbh. I really don't know what's going to happen. We absolutely smashed Norwich last week and were on our way to at least a point today until that terrible decision. I just don't think our final position is cut and dry by any stretch, is all I'm saying.
TRon
I'd have no problem with the we were robbed angle if we'd scored in the first half which we dominated and didn't consede another two after the decision. There's no doubt that it changed the game but we still didn't fight back against and even nab a draw against a team that's far worse than our own. And I say that fully in the knowledge that our team is pretty shit. We could quite easily have scored three goals in that first half if we'd had our shooting boots on. We opened them up a few times but scuffed the shots every time. Last week every one flew in. Sometimes it just one of those days. Sunderland looked punch drunk before the ref handed them the game. But we didn't quite easily score three goals in that first half though. Can we not stick to what actually happened instead of counting our chances as goals and ignoring them scoring three times? It wasn't just one of those days either This is the sixth time in a row man. Every chance isn't always converted though, that depends on the day whether your finishing is good or bad. Last week we scored from just about all our chances, today we missed them. If you want to stick to what actually happened then why are you talking about the last six matches where we didn't turn up when that's got nothing in common with this one where we got shafted by the ref? Hanshithispantz
Sunderland were absolutely shocking mind, even with 10 men I'm still completely baffled they won by 3 goals and hit the woodwork. It goes without saying our defence need fucking exterminating.

Yorkie
Nice sit on the fence post. I don't know what's gonna happen. One week I'm certain we're going down, the next I'm confident we'll stay up. On balance I think we're more likely to stay up, but I say that without any conviction.

We were robbed today, but the make do and mend policy of our defensive recruitment has cost us points this season without a doubt.

Only serious investment in January will save us. Left back, centre back and 2 central midfielders needed.

It was obvious before the window opened.

I'm not talking about that for the same reason I'm not talking about everything else, because it hasn't been brought up. Another strawman argument. I can't really be arsed tbh, if you can find a way to excuse a 3-0 loss to a team tgat terrible because of a pen and sending off at 0-0 then godspeed, but personally I find it embarrassing and a measure of how far we've fallen. Gallowgate Toon
We're currently 2 points off safety, I don't think it's really cut-and-dry that we'll go down.
Yorkie
We're currently 2 points off safety, I don't think it's really cut-and-dry that we'll go down. Of course it isn't. Absolute madness to say so. There are 28 games left ffs. Fuck knows what's gonna happen. If your feeling is that we're gonna go down, I'm not gonna argue it as such, but I'll reserve my right to sit on the fence at this point.
Guest neesy111
The only way we'll get up the table is by the defence improving massively, we are a shambles defensively even against shite teams. I can't see that happening at all because it's more of a personnel issue than a coaching / tactics issue.
Big Geordie
I feel quite 'meh' about whether we go down or not. Reality is, we are in serious trouble but remember we've been swimming against the tide, since we finished 5th and Ashley shit himself. We have some good, young talent but also some players who should have been moved on a couple of years ago. Those who run the club have only got themselves to blame for their myopic outlook and as ever, it's the supporters who suffer.
Ketsbaia
We're currently 2 points off safety, I don't think it's really cut-and-dry that we'll go down. Especially when we have Stoke, Bournemouth, Leicester, Palace and Villa soon, whilst Norwich are about to face Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal. Bournemouth have a nasty run too. We'll be above both in a month, even with a shite defence.

Yeah, we're playing with Elliott, Coloccini, Dummett, Colback and Tiote If our forward line aren't scoring 3-4 a game we'll probably not win.

This is one of my biggest bug bears on here, lets stop picking fixture lists and say these are the games we are going to win etc. Football does't work like that otherwise we'd all be millionaires from betting on them and it'd be boring to follow. People need to wake up into the deep deep shite we are in.
Ketsbaia
Well yeah but it's fair to say we've already faced the tougher half. And that Norwich and Bournemouth look poor.
