The Prophet
It's a shame for him as he looked in good nick. We'll be fine with Longstaff for a couple of weeks though, he seems to have a better on-field relationship with Bruno. Happinesstan
I'd be happy with either Willock or Longstaff. Willock has slightly outshone Longstaff, in the PSFs, but they both look up to the task.

I think it will be Bruno in the holding role, and Shelvey/Willock in front of him.

The Prophet
I hate to go all Craig Hope, but that might be a blessing in disguise. Feel sorry for him though. Edited August 8, 2022 by The Prophet
sushimonster85
Gutted for him, after the work he put in during the Summer and pre-season this must be awful for him.
Kanj
Gutted for him; everything I've read about how he's been since Howe has come in has been first class.
NE27
Typical Like the rest of the squad, shelvey was looking in fine shape for the new season and would've been very handy.
Ben
I like Shelvey and the way he has impressed undet Howe is credit to him, however I can't help thinking his body is starting to break down
80
Feel bad for him. Don't mean to take the piss, but it would be ironic if he ends up not playing enough games to get his contact extension after all...
Kid Icarus
That's shit for him and us. For all the criticism he used to get, often fairly often not, I really like him. Thought he was really good for us to the point of being underrated once Howe came in last season.
gbandit
Yeah, I feel sorry for him and it could make things tricky for us if we pick up any injuries but long-term (and by that, I mean from next season) I struggle to see him in this side
Dr.Spaceman
Feel sorry on one hand and I have little sympathy on the other. Bloke's coasted as our highest earner for too long. He's been great under Howe, mind. Edited August 8, 2022 by Dr.Spaceman
The Butcher
Let him go in Jan before he plays the three games he needs for the contract extension pls.
mikejaxer
After how hard he worked in pre season, I feel bad for him. Under Howe he would have been a fantastic option off the bench.
NE27
You wouldn't think it when you hear him, or see his general demeanor, but I honestly think he's had an areet time at Newcastle. Certainly one of the longest stints he's had in his career. Mind that could also be the fact Mashley was our owner
SteV
Bizarre given how innocuous it seemed at the time
gdm
Really feel for him. He really put the work in to get fit over the summer
Pata
That's a bummer.
Tiresias
What a shame for him considering he made a point of trying to come into the season as fit as he ever has been. I don't think he will be too badly missed tbh and howe will keep him involved
BoSelecta
Bruno can’t play every minute of every game, this is a real blow.
STM
I think we are incredibly lucky that the World Cup will save him missing quite a few extra games. It's a blow but we can cope.
Tsunami
That’s a shocker tbh. Leaves us looking a little light. We need back up for Wilson and if we can get Maddison/ Paqueta in then that’s now more of a priority for me than a right winger. Willock has an injury in him and Longstaff isn’t good enough imo. Anderson; huge risk. Gutted for Shelvey, seems he’s really bought into Howe and had worked hard even before pre-season.
wormy
Damn. Already a hit to what was looking like much improved depth under Howe. Sucks for him too as he really does seem to step it up when he's got the right manager motivating him.
