Shelvey, Ritchie and Gayle have no place in the PL in 2021 like at all. Ashley has killed our fans standards so much that I still see all 3 of them getting hyped up from time to time. Ritchie and Shelvey couldn’t give a fuck and probably laughed their arses off that they got contract extensions. 100% we only have them contract extension in order to save having to buy replacements. Accepted, Rafa played him there, but 541 with Rafa was at times magnificent, and Ritchie gave us great balance on that left side. Playing LWB now just exposes Ritchie defensivly. He cannot defend space, or one-on-ones, and is a weak link in a very rusty and already disorganised back line. Play him left of midfield instead of Joe, and at least he'd give some balance to the side. He always tries to play forward, and has actually still decent technique, albeit he's slow and can't beat anyone. Playing Joe wide stinks of him having a clause that he has to play. Instead of passing to someone who is in space, can make a run, or has an opportunity at goal, he’d rather keep the ball or lose possession. He was good in Championship 3 and a half years ago, that was his peak. How he still gets games for us and got that contract extension is beyond me.
