afar
It's a great appointment for them, would be churlish to suggest otherwise. If anyone had said they would go from Fat Sam to Moyes and also has some money from compensation in the bank a year or so a go, they would have been thrilled. He will need time though, he always does, that's my only hope they become inpatient, think for sure it will be another relegation battle for them this year, this appointment does not fix that, if they stay with him and he keeps them up they could break that cycle next year. Guest reefatoon
He will flop like Martin O'neill did. Been decent in the past but been shit the last few years. They will be bbbeeeewwwwwing him by April.
Ryan
Still not sure on Moyes. Completely failed at Man Utd and Sociedad (where he didn't want to learn at all and stuck to his rigid ways). Can't see him taking them down but then again can't see him finishing anywhere above 13th/14th. As has been said by others, would've been completely underwhelmed if he ended up here after McLaren left.
Scoot
I wonder if according to Ready to Groom "The mags are all 'seething' and 'rattled' by this appointment"?
Odear
Good appointment for them. Style of play isn't that dissimilar to what went before him. It's hard to say he's a better manager than Allardyce but between the two of them probably the best of the current British bunch. I have a theory about managers or players and certain clubs.. some are just a good fit. That was Everton for Moyes. He should never have left. With each new job his stock is lowering.. and now he finds himself at Sunderland. Probably wondering how it came to this. We can't say the same for Benitez.. we really lucked out there. If his family weren't still living in England, we wouldn't have had a chance signing him. But overall a solid appointment for them, they might even finish top 10 if there's a bit of a post hippo head bounce
Fugazi
I wouldn't have been overwhelmed if we'd went for him after McClaren but I wouldn't have been too disappointed.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
I wonder if according to Ready to Groom "The mags are all 'seething' and 'rattled' by this appointment"? Presumably Moyes has always been a massive lads fan.
shintonsghost
anywhere near 14th is like europe to those knackers. they will stay classy though and hope for 15th cos its what they do, class club
Troll
#SAFC boss David Moyes has won the LMA Manager of yr 3 times, Rafa Benitez has never won it Easy to see why #NUFC wanted him before Rafa. The mackems hire a new manager and still cant help themselves but talk about us and make up weird little stories. Joe Kinnear won that once (or three times if you ask him), didn't he? Troll
Sunderland feels like a perfect match for Moyes. Good appointment.
Raconteur
I reckon Moyes is a good manager, better than many of the managers we've had in the last decade or so. But the fact is the mackem squad is completely fucking shite. Surely Defoe can't have another miracle year, and without him they're simply terrible. There's probably three worse teams in the Prem, but without investment, they're going to be down there struggling again, whether it's Moyes or Simeone or Guardiola or God himself in the dugout. Altamullan
Moyes has the look of a textbook Makem. I reckon there's a definite blond/ginger Steve Cram type which originates there more than other places. Like one of Erik the Red's weaker offspring, where the Norse sense of adventure dribbled down their mother's leg, and they ended-up hanging around the coastal hovels trading and trying to hump young goats. Guest chopey
He's got a lot to prove after his last two jobs, but if he gets it right you can cast iron guarantee he'll move on.
mrmojorisin75
it'll be interesting to see if/how fast he can improve them tbh, things took their sweet time at everton but i'd imagine their days of relegation battles are over for a while

Thomson Mouse
Not sure how 'safe' he is really after his last two jobs. He absolutely needs this to count otherwise he'll struggle trying to stand out from the other PFMs
toontownman
Interesting appointment. Depends how much money he gets. Will have a lot to prove, could very well solidify them in the premier league now. Mackems will be over the moon.

Not sure that's based on much. 3 jobs, f***ed two them up I think it will suit him being there. Man U job was too big for him and never know when managing a foreign team. Will take a lot of work to make them mid-table though as will need to clear out a lot of shite even if them lot think they are class. He brought through a few youngsters at Everton as well including Coleman, Barkley, Rooney, Rodwell and made them very hard to beat, he didn't often start their season until January though which will suit these lot and he did spend a fair bit no matter what is said.
