LoveItIfWeBeatU
Wonder if Mitrovic is still struggling with fitness after playing for the Serbs. Maybe Rafa dropped him to the bench because he failed to score against Estonia even though he had numerous good chances.
LiquidAK
Mitrovic isn't even on the bench according to the BBC sport app is that right??
Hanshithispantz
McClaren would have been playing this on the back of a 3-0 defeat to the mackems tbf.
Hanshithispantz
Mitrovic isn't even on the bench according to the BBC sport app is that right?? I mean the game doesn't kick off for another 50 minutes so probably.
BONTEMPI
Nothing wrong with that line up tbh. It's do or die anyway.
LV
TEAM: Ruddy; Wisdom, Bennett, Klose, Olsson; Jarvis, Howson, O'Neil ©, Brady; Naismith; Mbokani. Redmond on the bench So Naismith starts.
Guest
McClaren would have been mullered for that team, hope he knows what he's doing. Bar switching the striker it's pretty uncontentious IMO. You'd have Taylor over Lascelles? No De Jong, Perez or Mitrovic?
TRon
McClaren would have been mullered for that team, hope he knows what he's doing. Don't see too much wrong with it tbh, I know lots on here aren't fans of Tiote or Cisse, but we haven't looked better for their absence. I would have had Lascelles ahead of Taylor though. nufcjb
A bit disapointed both De Jong and Mitrovic doesn't start. Wanted at least 1 of them to start and if it was Cisse getting the nod up front, hope Mitro alongside him or De Jong supporting him would have suited us. Quite sick of Gini on away days. Guest
The good thing is if things do go wrong, he's got the tools on the bench to put it right. De Jong's looked good in cameo roles lately, Perez & Mitrovic coming off the bench got results against Spurs & Liverpool...fingers crossed.
Disco
McClaren would have been mullered for that team, hope he knows what he's doing. Bar switching the striker it's pretty uncontentious IMO. You'd have Taylor over Lascelles? No De Jong, Perez or Mitrovic? They're both as bad as each other IMO and I'd have brought in Tiote too, allows Shelvey to get forward more. He was very unlikely to drop Sissoko, Townsend or Wijnaldum as they're the only players we have who can run so unfortunately others have to make way. I think it's been pretty obvious we'll play more direct to avoid getting picked off on the break under Rafa so far and those players fit that system best. I'm as big a fan of Ayoze as anyone too. AyeDubbleYoo
It's definitely a questionable team given how much faith he seemed to have in De Jong and Mitro, lesser extent Lascelles. I've got some faith he had a clear plan for them though.
54
What happened to Saivet?
TRon
Perez and Mitro came off the bench to great effect against Spurs. With Perez especially the extra space when the game becomes stretched suits his game more anyway.
Hanshithispantz
We realised we'd signed a slight French winger to enforce our central midfield.
Big Geordie
What happened to Saivet? Obviously not rated. Another wonderful signing.
Village Idiot
This and El Clásico the same day. :frantic:
Gallowgate Toon
Saivet looked decent in his last game, no? Reckon it's a more 'no risk' approach with midfield, for him.
Kevo
I must've been watching a different team for the previous season and a bit because I have no idea what De Jong has done to show he should even be close to starting Perez and Mitro, yes, but not De Jong. I'd have definitely played Lascelles over Taylor.
The College Dropout
Cisse had to start.
Belfast Boy
All those forwards on the bench, us being us, you can just see 2 or 3 forced substitutions at the back
Village Idiot
Cisse had to start. Agree with that. He's proven to score goals in this league, Mitrovic not quite.
Shak
Sissoko on the left. Don't like the lineup tbh, hope Rafa proves me wrong.
Odear
What happened to Saivet? Hopefully someone kept the receipt for him and he can be returned. Not unhappy with that line up, I trust Rafa..he'll know why he's picked that team..
Kanj
Pretty flexible team too. Sissoko could slot left back, Anita can go in midfield or off. Wijnaldum on either wing.
