Ignore the story, just this little tit bit is interesting : 'Mbabu’s exit is another indication that more defensive players will arrive in the next few days with a left-back understood to be on the way.'

Please happen. It will make all the difference.

I'm slightly worried by the "more defensive" players angle. Footballs moved on, full backs are now expected to start play and build play more than just defend and take throw ins.

By signing a pure left back could we go with a Wing Back system

                    Sels

      Mbemba Lascelles Clark

  Yedlin                        New LB

              Hayden Diame

                  Ritchie

              Mitrovic  Gayle

Any danger of a left back and a playmaker? Mbabu looked good yet he has been loaned out. What's up with gamez?

Mbabu can't be relied on so has gone out to get games under the belt. Gamez has not been match fit yet according to the last game on .com

He's played 39 games for the US. It's not like he's made 1 appearance in an Ireland friendly.

Half the time he ends up on the wing because he can't defend for shit and is just fast.

The only difference between him and Janmaat then.

Cobi Jones

My Spurs mate thinks Yedlin has much bigger potential as a winger than at right back. Sounds like a straight swap for Janmaat

Klinsmann tried to shoehorn him into a wing role for far too long. He's great at driving from deep and overlapping but he lacks the skill to directly take on a defender over the course of a match.

He has improved a lot as a defender and his speed is a real asset on the flank.
