Guest firetotheworks
I for one am outraged we can't force players to choose us over Monaco and think everyone involved should be ashamed. Tbf, you know absolutely nothing about the circumstances. Rafa might have already had him lined up pre-fee agreement. No one knows.
Guest
£10m?!! We couldn't even cough up ten million pounds....Jesus Christ, we really are doomed That's unforgivable. And people actually think we'll get £20m for Dwight Gayle? How is that your interpretation of that?
AyeDubbleYoo
Can't wait for him to start well but then just be ditched for no clear reason when Dummett is back. This can't really be true, otherwise we wouldn't be buying him.
lovejoy
As if we'd be reckless enough to spend big money at the end of the transfer window. Loans and bargains only at this stage. You saying you don't believe the likes of the last day berahino bid?
timeEd32
But while the transfer budget is small compared to other clubs in the top flight, Newcastle have spent around £40 million and Telegraph Sport understands there is still some money available. The stumbling point has been the size of the wage bill, with Ashley led to believe that far more players would leave this summer to make room for new arrivals. That has caused his lieutenant Justin Barnes, drafted into the club to help keep the club’s finances in order in case there was any interest in a takeover this summer, to keep a tight hold of the purse strings, frustrating both Benítez and managing director Lee Charnley. Newcastle, though, have struggled to find clubs willing to match their asking prices and pay the same wages the unwanted players currently earn at St James’ Park. That has created a log jam and means some targets have moved elsewhere. Hoping for two more in according to this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/08/29/newcastle-united-hoping-add-two-new-signings-squad-managerrafael/ Think we've given up on replacing Elliot, which is disappointing. 54
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/08/29/newcastle-united-hoping-add-two-new-signings-squad-managerrafael/ Newcastle United are still hoping to make another two signings before the close of the transfer window but will not do so unless they can sell players first. Newcastle’s transfer plans have been hampered all summer by the failure to sell the players manager Rafael Benítez was confident he would be able to offload after promotion. Benítez has been critical of owner Mike Ashley in recent weeks and hinted at broken promises when he was told he would receive every extra penny brought in by promotion back to the Premier League. The club are still hoping to make at least one more permanent signing and a loan deal before Thursday, but much depends on how many unwanted players they can get rid of. The good news for Benítez is that Grant Hanley is on the verge of joining Championship club Norwich City and midfielder Jack Colback is wanted by Hull City, albeit on loan. Full back Achraf Lazaar is another player who is expected to depart, with interest expressed from a number of clubs on the continent. If all three depart in the next 24 hours, that would give Benitez far more room manoeuvre in the final hours of the window. Newcastle could even be tempted to sell last season’s top goalscorer Dwight Gayle, although only if they know for certain that they can bring in a replacement. Gayle was left out of the matchday squad for the home victory over West Ham United last weekend. However, interest in Liverpool strikers Divock Origi and Danny Ings has not been followed after an initial approach was rebuffed by the Merseyside club. Figures 1-0 Football
Interesting that The Telegraph state both Rafa AND Charnley are frustrated with the lack of business we're able to do.
