Not sure soviet propaganda is the route I’d take atm. Much as I appreciate the aesthetics and think it’s a cool idea

Is that because of the Russia stuff? If so I totally get that, but (and I don't know if they still are) if Liverpool fans are still displaying that flag with their managers in the Kop I don't see why we couldn't use a similar design.

I like the idea personally, but Liverpool has a really strong socialist history that's still going relatively strong and designs like that still suit them now. We don't really we have that unfortunately, but we do have a history of mining trade unions, so designs like this invoke our own history a bit more?

Just my opinion like, but I think Liverpool has a much stronger and more unique history with it than anywhere else in the country. Mainly just because of how recent a lot of their history with it is.

A lot of the North East's relationship with it died with previous generations and was then wrongly re-interpreted as tribalism and patriotism by many in the generations that followed imo. Probably one for another thread like, but still.

I feared the ones on the pitch were a distraction for the players. I remembered that time the Mackems conceded to a shot that deflected off a balloon. The ref should have disallowed it, but didn't know the rules.

was it not a beach ball?

I've made a small knock up of an idea for a flag. I remember back to mid 2018 when Ashley protests were being mooted and I tried looking at designing concepts even though I'm no good. But now things are positive again, I couldn't help but getting back into it. I really like the designs of Soviet propaganda and liked the flag that Liverpool fans have for past managers down below. Now I've done a brief one for us below it, went for the colours of the 1995-96 away top due to not wanting red for obvious reasons and because black and white would make the images harder to see. Also replaced the star with the coat of arms of the city, but that could easily be removed if it looked better without. So aye. Not perfect but an idea I just haven't been able to get out of my head. Someone better at graphic design could refine it.

It's canny like. I'll be honest like it's not really my cup of tea but it's a decent concept and could work  definitely like the use of the away kit colours - that could be a great shout for other designs like

Done. Also changed the coat of arms in the corner and the look of the faces to make them look a little less photo like.

Aye the little crest looks a bit better. Maybe a blue star would work instead too. Can put this to the group like.

Like the idea of miners style flags. I really want us to tap into our local history and everything about the region tbh. There'll be plenty to celebrate of the team in time, I think it's good and right to remind people of our history both on and off the pitch

I do as well like the idea of delving into the history of the north east but I've had a gander at a few miners' union posters to use as a base and they're not as flexible as I'd like.

I've spent the whole of today refining that above design of mine, just can't get it out of my head. I don't know whether to include Arthur Cox though because if I include him I feel it harsh to leave Hughton out. And is Hughton on a par with Robson, Keegan and the others atm? Probably given I've included Benitez and Howe, he is.

Been trying to refine it, included multiple versions with both Hughton and Arthur Cox, just Arthur Cox as well as neither.

The original 5 I picked.

Original 5 plus Hughton and Cox, feel it's too many.

Only half joking about getting on to Ash Willerton to design something like @HeronHe's a Newcastle fan so he might be up for it. Those designs above suggests he could do something in the miner's Union flag style.

It's his job though, so you might have to factor in paying him.

Amazing display, lovely to witness and awe inspiring. This is from the fans, not the club, no other fans go this far and go to such lengths, absolute fucking legends all of them. The difference….

That pic of Ghodoussi really means something to me like. I just find it really humble. There's a guy, who, could quite easily believe to be well above such an action as waving a 4 quid flag, that is coloured, has little, theoretical significance, but instead chooses to wave it so to feel a part of something more. To remove social barriers and to unite the people behind his business. Clever as it may seem as a cynic, it is beautiful as a (perhaps) naive fan. It brings me absolute joy.

This sort of Unity will bring us a bigger, better success than others. Not one with multimillionnaire superstars and a division of stardom and fanatics, but a one of an indestructible community.

Newcastle.
