How has it got to the stage where we're playing three away games in 7 days in opposite ends of the country by the way, totally apropos of the fact that we're playing 3 out of the current top 5? It's horrific scheduling, and no-one else seems to have been shafted by it quite to the same extent as us.

The Brighton game was rescheduled.

Why couldn't it have been rescheduled to a different date?

No idea and not arsed. It is what it is.

We clearly needed investment in January, our top scorer is out and etc. but assuming we'd absolutely bottle it when we're the best away team versus the best home team is a bit over dramatic. I think it's fair to say its anyone's game and will be the biggest test of our and Brighton's promotion charge, my passionate and sometimes overly optimistic heart says we will win because we have Rafa and we're a different Newcastle United than a year ago.

Hopefully our big players will step up for this and go to Brighton ready to battle for 3 points under the lights of the credit card stadium.

Surprised and encouraged by the number of optimistic fans in the poll. Personally think we're due an absolute twatting.

Based on what? Genuinely curious.

Nothing other than bedwetting, as usual.

 Shut the fuck up.

We're due a stinking defeat, as in we're due one. As in we've not had one in ages. It nearly happened on Saturday but (to their minor credit) they avoided it.

Plus we've been playing shite, confidence is fragile and we're away to top of the league.

Think we'll play well, be really hard to break down, take a lead which we hold for about an hour then concede.  Hang on for a 1-1 draw.  Think we will do Huddersfield and Reading

Edit - we will of course miss chances to make it 2 and bemoan missing Gayle

Brighton have really picked up over there last couple of games, when it was looking like the might collapse like last season again. Gonna be tougher than it was say a week or so ago, still hopeful though but need the players to play at a much higher level than they have been.

Line 2 and Line 3 are valid in the old shit-fest club regime when we had Colo and co. Hopefully our world class manager has them more than ready.

You should have a few beers and chill out too; on edge as fuck York!

We'll bum them and Rafa will end the game with his big smile and rosey cheeks.

We'll then have points deducted because bumming is not an acceptable tactic in today's game.

From BBC sport:

The Magpies have never scored a goal at the Amex Stadium in two previous games there, both in the FA Cup.

Fills me with tons of confidence given our under performing forwards.

Magpies striker Daryl Murphy has scored in each of his last four Championship appearances against Brighton (four goals).

Murphy is the highest scoring Championship opposition player at the Amex (since 2011-12), netting four goals in five previous appearances.

Sounds like Murphy will be needed for this game.

The Magpies are yet to win a Championship game in which they've conceded the first goal this season (D1 L6), while Brighton have won 18 out of 18 games in which they've scored first.

Er, a tad alarming if we concede first.

 I'm not on edge, though. I just think we'll lose cos we've been playing shite. Are the other 17 people (at this point) who voted Brighton 'bed-wetters' as well?

Not entirely sure how we 'are due' a twatting mind. Are Brighton due one? Maybe they'll get one tomorrow, who knows.

Aye, given their run this season, you could argue they are due one more than us.

Will they get it tomorrow? Who knows. The big factor is that they are playing with confidence, but we seem to play differently away from home - still not fluent, or blowing teams away, but we seem to set up better away from home, and seem to have more ability to grind the results out.

Hope it happens again tomorrow night, if only to shut my gaffa up, who is quite cocky about tomorrow - saying he'd be happy with a draw but you can tell he expects them to win, and easily.
