Hhtoon
Maybe people won't be in such a rush to call a promising youngster that is new to the league incurably diabolical next time, doubt it though. Maybe people will just call it as they see it? He was utterly diabolical at times and has improved considerably in the two most recent games. Unfortunately those people are often what is wrong with the modern day football supporter.
Sean
It's almost like young footballers require confidence and some game time to perform isn't it? He's proven nothing yet but some fans' treatment of him has been shocking. Really hope he comes good. Yep, we really do have some fucking appalling fans. Like it's a contest to see who can write a player off the quickest.
NEEJ
Aye there’s seemingly an aversion to calling it as you see it on here. Not from you though, oh erudite one.

Like it's a contest to see who can write a player off the quickest. It is like. Looking back a few pages on this thread there's plenty of over the top comments. "Flog him in January" "Needs to go out on loan ASAP" "Would rather have kept Sammy" Good job not every fan has the same attitude cos players like Speed and Solano and wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes here. Some players just need a bit of time and support.

You're really comparing his situation to the likes of Speed and Solano Aye because they're both examples of players who started woefully for us but turned out to be 2 of the best players we've had in recent times. Infinitely Content
Pleased for him. Needs to start has many games as possible, even when Atsu is back. Think Murphy can really kick on for us this season and solidify his starting position for next season.
TRon
Looks a very decent prospect. Nice to see some pace in what was a turgid midfield otherwise.

I think the biggest concern and criticism was that he was the one we spent big on instead of a striker.

Aye, would have been better spending the £17m we spent on Murphy and Joselu on a decent centre forward.
Parky
Played really well for the first half an hour. Skillful and pacey just a bit ragged due to his age. Will be a good player.
AyeDubbleYoo
Nyom is a pretty solid defender, wasn’t an easy matchup tonight.
xLiaaamx
A few lovely pieces of skill. Unfortunately for him he'd often beat his man and because both teams were so defensive he'd have 6 defenders infront of him and two teammates
Guest neesy111
Thought he was one of our better players tonight again.

Unfortunately those people are often what is wrong with the modern day football supporter. As long as you show support and encouragement I don't see the problem in pointing out afterwards a players performance. People shouldn't moan and groan in the stands but at the pub we can say "that Murphy looks like a deer caught in the headlights". Now he's starting, he's relaxing and showing his ability. At some point I can see him going on a run of goals and creating a load of chances. He's growing.
loki679
He was good. He's always looking forward, trying to beat his man and get a cross in. He's got decent movement too which we really need.
mrmojorisin75
Would like to see him and Aarons on either side at some point at the expense of Ritchie
HawK
Would like to see him and Aarons on either side at some point at the expense of Ritchie Ritchie is irreplaceable. His assists, particularly from set pieces, are what's keeping us out of the relegation zone. Ritchie has to start every game, whether that's as a right winger or not is another matter though. Guest
On the other hand, we might be causing more problems to the opposition if we had someone more direct trying to take on players, etc.

At least we'll keep his set piece delivery in the team.
Guest
I dont think he's good enough for number 10. He seems like someone who needs time on the ball and his one-touch short passing isn't a strength, which is a bit of a weakness in that role.
HawK
I won't disagree, but if it's him or Perez or Diame, I think his net contribution would be more than either of those two. I guess with 2 very pacey wingers either side he may get some more space to operate too.
FustinoSolano
Liked a lot of what he did last night, some lovely runs and actually looks quite threatening but gave the ball away a lot as well, needs to be a bit stronger and release the ball sooner at times. A huge improvement from his early cameos and obviously has potential so hopefully he can kick on, think a goal would do him the world of good. mrmojorisin75
Yeah dropping Ritchie wouldn't necessarily have to be a permanent thing like but Ritchie could probably do with some time out of the side as well. Not like other players can't assist, that ball from Aarons last night was delightful.
Gallowgate Toon
He shows some really intelligent movement along with some lovely skill, I think he could be a really decent player in a year. I think being on the left in our setup hampering him, though. I did read that he had some good games as a 10 last year...
