He went full George Caulking in that article.

Not a fan at all of his style of writing, reads more like something you would have read in a fanzine years ago. It has it's place, just don't think it belongs in a broadsheet.

Will be interesting to see if Murphy can use the current high praise he's getting to kick on for the second half of the season and put to rest all this talk of his form being patchy.

Absolute bollocks he doesn’t get that assist like. Who was he passing it to? Isak. Who did it go to? Isak. Surely irrelevant that the defender got a tiny touch on it first.

Like putting every slightly deflected shot down as an OG.

I understand (to a point) instances like the Isak worldy ‘non-assist’ at Everton, cos he was probably passing that to Wilson and it ended up with Murphy. But if it goes to the player you’re passing it to…

I might be wrong. But I’m sure both this one and Hall’s v Man U have not been classed as assists. But last time I looked. Salah’s v West Ham counted even though it comes off a West Ham player before getting to Gakpo.

Fuck knows.

Murphy to Isak is automatic.

Said it a while back. I’d love to see how many crosses and passes into the box he makes per game?

We don’t really have anyone else who does that in the squad. So even with his flaws. He massively suits this team.

So good to see him putting this balls on, for years we had Almiron cutting in and losing the ball which was so frustrating for our strikers, last season we really needed another player like him in the team.

Yep, add me to that list.  That Hornby-inflected writing style just bores me.

Good time to cash in on him?

No one will want to hear it tonight, but it would be in the summer if we got a good offer.

Although if we get in the CL, then why would we need to?

Makes you wonder if wingers playing on the right side could make a comeback.

I don't think it's ever coming back. Just recently thought how ridiculous Robert would've been cutting in from the right with that left foot, he would've been scoring +20 goals a season.

In theory yes but don't think that'll ever happen. Think he's a lifer here. Probably not a great price, desperate to stay, ultra willing team player, probably cheap wages, big for morale. Makes too much sense to keep, over all.

What a ball for Gordon's goal. Top tier stuff.

That Savinho had a great game when switched to the left for Man City the other day aswell. Something to be said for good quality crosses. Is odd that something so common in the past got replaced almost exclusively by inverted wingers.

That being said I think if you have good quality overlapping full backs like Hall and Trippier (pre meltdown) then it kind of negates the need and you get best of both worlds if you have the inverted wingers then aswell who can cut inside and shoot.

Murphy has been a solid squady since Howe however and I think our win % when he starts over the last few years is really high. So he certainly brings a balance to the side and has a great relationship with Isak.
