Other clubs' transfers

Why is Dembele now regarded as a poor transfer for Man U? My knowledge on Spanish football is almost zero now but he was incredible when he left Dortmund.

He has poor attitude and has been extremely injury prone. If you were able to solve these issues (a big if, but never know), he's a gem of a player.

Conte just trying to get the old gang back together

Their average age must be crazy high.

They do have a younger core of players as well though - Bastoni, Barella, Hakimi, Martinez, Sensi, Skriniar. Even some of their more experienced players like Lukaku, Eriksen, Handanovic etc haven't had significant experience of actually winning things.

They came very close last season to Juve, only losing out by point. Adding the likes of Vidal and Kolarov seem quite sensible additions to give a bit more winning experience.

Darmian is a bit if rubbish signing but then he's basically just replacing Candreva/Moses as backup wing-back to Hakimi who was their major signing this summer.

The 1 point gap is incredibly misleading. The league was basically over at the start of July. Juve took their foot off the gas massively and dropped 16 points out of their last 24. In reality they weren't really close at all.

You're somewhat correct that 1 point is misleading but also not IMO. Juve were poor last year and really got away with the fact that Coronavirus halted the season when they were struggling. If they'd had to juggle league and CL for those last few weeks they would have done well to hold off other clubs like Lazio (who totally collapsed after the hiatus) and Atalanta who were undoubtedly a better performing side than them over the course of the whole season.

Inter themselves weren't far off for a lot of the season and they really should be looking to push them all the way this year.

Hmmm ... I like that Man U move for Cavani. Think that is going to work well.

Martial upfront gets stifled from games when there isn't any space in behind. And when things get forced wide and crosses come in they're not as threatening.

Can seem them ending up playing Martial left, Rashford right and Cavani up top. Greenwood then subbing in for any of those.

It's classic man u, bought cos he's famous enough to sell some shirts, and probably will be ok but hardly actually improves them as their front line is actually pretty good. Spent all window chasing a wide player not on sale to try and prove they want to spend big money and instead cash in on a famous face for the dressing room to try and placate fans towards the deadline. The thing is they are not actually far off having an exciting young team that could form a very strong foundation for good things, but they undermine it continually by indulging their 'star' players or faffing around in transfer window trying to bring in ones, failing then panic buying.
