De Paul rumored on his way to Inter Miami. Only 31. Probably makes Gallagher unavailable.

I don’t think there has been any real link there yet, although I’d love him here.

Why is Longstaff only 12 million when Omari fucking Hutchshitson is 35 million. Make it make sense.

If Ramsey’s going for 30, we should be able to get the same for Willock, similar goal and injury records.

That was his release clause and for the price, you are paying for potential where you can get the sum back and more if they progress, or get a reasonable squad player of longevity.

If Longstaff broke out in current climate like he did under Benitez, we’d likely be fending off £40m+ bids for him as he’d tick the boxes for clubs to take the gamble at a high price.

Time to sign Hutchison was last summer when he was available for a more reasonable price. Clubs though just allowed Ipswich the free run at him as they didn’t want to gamble on just a championship season. Again it’s shown which I’ve said before, there’s talent down there and moves should be made as the value is there long term.

Be interesting to see what current England u19s are loaned out to championship, because the talent is deep again.

So that was a 'break out' season from Hutchinson? I thought he looked very average.

As in this prem season gone? If so, I agree he looked average but have to caveat with he was playing for a side that as the season went on, confidence drained away and more of his time was spent defending. The Euros then reminds clubs of what he’s actually about in a side that has more of the ball and time isn’t spent defending with him in his own third, the potential on show and so clubs want him. Ipswich will come straight back up, so don’t get him this summer, be even harder and likely more costly next summer (with more clubs interested as he posts 20+ G/A).

What also helps with bumping Hutchinson value up IMO, is due to him not being a fixed player. Can still be moulded to how a club sees fit for their future development. Can play LW / CAM / RW, and a club can get more out of him in one of those fixed positions (or use him for versatility which would go against long term).

I just think £35m is a hell of a gamble for someone who blew as hot and cold as he did through the season. He was good at the Euros, but as has been said on here there's no guarantee that form carries over to the PL.

Too many variables moving to a new club to make an immediate observation anyway, as you say he has age on his side and could end up a very good player in a few years.

Don’t disagree at all, I wouldn’t want us doing the deal at that price even if turns out to be good long term. The good price was last summer, it’s a premium and a gamble price this summer as you allude too.

£20m signing years ago that’s then sold for £12m as they didn’t work, is almost todays £30m+ and sold for less than £20m. So much money in prem, clubs can afford to write off losses in the short term. Too many of them it will catch up though / halt progression if others around you keep getting hits.

Something very dodgy about the Jhon Duran move to Saudi, like. Have Villa's owners got connections with Saudi?

Seems reet fucking strange that after 6 months he's gone to Fener

Yeah, I think the Villa owners' construction business is one of the contractors for The Line

They have been bailed out a few times now whenever they need it for extraordinary fees that no one else is paying, so yeah something is dodgy there.

That Diaby lad was abit of a flop really and they should have had to take a hit as no one in Europe was paying them what they paid to take him. But in came Saudi with the full whack, even though Diaby is a relative nobody and won't move the dial for their league at all.

Same for Duran, seemed like behind the scenes he was abit of a nob and yes he was having a good season etc but no one else was coming to Villa with that sort of fee to try and take him and then to just give him away for free on loan 6 months later just proves something ain't right there.

Would be like us buying Ekitike for £70-80m then just loaning him out to someone in January. Just wouldn't happen.

£65m+£5m bid in for Mbeumo. Expected to be accepted.

Would have initially said that's too much but seeing what the other right wingers are going for it's probably about right. Just a bit shite it turned into a saga.

If you boys get Wissa, Brentford are fucked.

Would imagine it basically puts a stop to any Wissa deal tbh. Not too fussed about it either, just not sure who else we're going to go for now - just hope that the alternative is to go big.

I'd say your Wissa interest is what got us to cough up the extra few million.

It's all coming up DCL. Or who knows Eddie's in charge and Cal still doesn't have a club :lol.
