Various: Mike Ashley in talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan

Recommended Posts

I'm sceptical, but quite hopeful on this one. Probably just because as far as prospective owners have previously went (Staveley, Kenyon) this is one that could push us into becoming a top 4 club again.

See what happens, either way as long as Rafa stays and gets what he wants I'm happy.

I suspect the person who leaked it is on Sheikh Khaleds side of it and is very confident because they have underestimated the ficklness of Ashley, so they leak it all confident and Ashley's side are like lolololol maybe

Wonder who is taking over Charnleys role?

And wonder if we will have a director of football now?

Interesting to see what the whole structure of the club will be after this.

I'm guessing exactly the same but with Lawrie Sanchez as manager.

My guess is that both parties have agreed on a price. Presumably proof of funds and due diligence now has to happen, but my feeling is that the biggest obstacle has been crossed.

Based on what exactly

There have been stories of bids before, but this is the first one that I can recall where the bidder appears to have the money to see it through. The other bids I can remember, like Staveley and Kenyon, have been all about consortiums or borrowing, where the financial side looks a bit fragile. So there's more reason to believe that this one can last the course.

I don't believe that these stories have been based on nothing. It's just that a lot of bids are unrealistic. This recurring idea, which appears in so many contexts, that Ashley plants fake stories in order to appease the fans, is a bit naïve.

I thought the Premier League actually commented about the Kenyan thing saying they hadn’t received anything. Clutching at straws but the fact they are saying no comment is a positive.

From the chronicle 28th December 2018

United sources also played down news of a takeover update while the Premier League offered a no comment status when approached by ChronicleLive

Is this connected to the Nigerian rumours from a few years ago and they've moved to another part of Africa?  :)

Chronicle and Ryder can fuck off like they know anything and everything. It was just last week they were playing up the story we were going to be bought by Speedy Gonzales and Co. Ariba andale andale.

Its absolute horseshit. Some clown from the The S*n completely blindsides everyone by claiming we've been sold and every other journo is running about trying to find out details. Clearly none of them know anything because the story is utter bollocks. Whether journalists are fabricating it or its based on false information, who knows but given the fact that its gone from a 'done deal' to 'in talks' tells you everything you need to know.

This one has been bollocks from the start. No doubt it'll drag on and there will be radio silence or at best tiny snippets for weeks e.g Kenyon and Stavely and absolutely fuck all will come of it.

It's funny how these things always crop up at critical times, like right before a transfer window or during negotiations to renew our managers contract. One would even suggest that the club aren't willing to give Benitez what he wants and this will provide a decent smokescreen to absolve the club of blame. Benitez will wind down his contract while these 'negotiations' are taking place and then it'll be too late to do anything.

It’s the ‘from a close associate of the Sheikh’ thing that the whole Sun story is based on that gets me. He could be anyone, the journo could have just made him up with a bit of encouragement from Mike. This ‘close associate’ is likely just Bishop in a metaphorical Arab head-scarf.

Edit: There’s also nothing in the Abu Dhabi press about this.

That is what i fear as well. Horrible timing. It could leave us in a very bad place...again!

What I take is some high level communication has been done and 350m is a price both parties agreed to start working on.

Which means the deal is still very fragile as we all know the fat cunt could fuck it up easily, say demanding SD advertising for n years, his personal loans not counted etc.

Too early to be optimistic
