That was like the Dubs we signed under Raga.

Claimed everything that was chucked in. Didn’t spill any of the awkward shots with players around him. Made a top save from James.

Oh and he annoyed their fans. Serves them right with that tragic “you’re Shit ahahahaha” or whatever it is. Nearly as bad as goal music, that.

Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka rejected a deadline day loan move to Manchester United.

United were prepared to accept Dubravka in exchange for Dean Henderson, whom Newcastle explored the possibility of signing on loan until the end of the season.

Newcastle loaned third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman to Bournemouth on deadline day and, mindful of interim United manager Ralf Rangnick's wish for a back-up to replace Henderson, offered Slovakia international Dubravka on loan.

However, the goalkeeper declined the opportunity to join United as back-up to David de Gea. Dubravka started in Newcastle's 3-1 win over Everton on Tuesday night.

Sounds like an absolutely baseless story to try and unsettle a player. It would have come out already if this had happened.

Man Utd are rattled by us right now. They can see what’s coming.

The manager might well want his own goalkeeper but don’t think he has any issue with Dubs for rest of season. We won’t be doing any business with Man Utd after the whole Lingard thing.

Man Utd had a pretty awful window in terms of transfers.

They sent Axel Tuanzebe from Villa's bench to Napoli's bench. Donny van de Beek spent so long trying to avoid a relegation battle he ended up in one with a new manager that is unlikely to show him any loyalty as he's a loan player. They're going to pay Jesse Lingard seven figures to do nothing and end his Man Utd career on a sour note, while Dean Henderson is going to end up in a similar boat sat behind De Gea. Martial is off the books for now, but it's unclear what his future is.

Don’t know what we have to gain by this. Haven’t seen Henderson play but he can’t be much better than Dubravka is he? Wouldn’t be against replacing Dubravka in the summer, but seems odd to make such a move which could knock Dubravaka’s confidence.

They're around the same shot stopping wise. Dubravka has much more experience and is use to the team, Henderson has potential to grow as he's much younger.

EH thinks Dubravka is a good goalkeeper but a bad sweeper keeper and a poor distributer - any Newcastle fan could tell him that and the stats just confirm it. EH wants to play out from the back which means you need a keeper whose good on the ball. Henderson is slightly better than Dubravka but he is nowhere near Ederson or Allison with regards to this.

That being said, I think a ball playing keeper is irrelevant right now because only Trippier is confident on the ball. Give it to Lascelles or Schar and they'll end up kicking it long when under pressure anyways.

Yeah don’t disagree with any of that. Just I would have a new gk quite low down on my list of priorities. Especially if we wait until the summer we can get one that’s too class.

Genuine question, how many keepers in the world are clearly an improvement? I’ve always found it difficult to rate keepers, unless they are regularly making errors.

Anybody else pick up on his “injury” that needed treatment in the second half. Clearly got a signal from Fraser to go down when he was getting ready for a goal kick.

As soon as he did, Howe immediately got about 5 players over to relay some kind of message.

Aye I’ve just rewatched the match earlier and Neville said “this has come at a good time for Howe”. Very shithouse like. Inject it.

Nice to have a group and manager focused on the game and reading the moment like that. Bruce wouldn't.

It's funny because he doubles down a few posts later.

Just hope he can stay fit until the summer now, going back to Darlow would be ba-a-ad.

God, aye. As big if not a bigger downgrade as Trippier to Krafth. Think one of the best things about Dubravka is the only real talk the last month has been the so-called Henderson swap. Just doing his job again now.

Loved that, it was because Howe wanted to deliver instructions as he changed it to 4-5-1.

Was it vs Spurs earlier this season when I think we had another medical situation in the stands? I remember fuming on here that all the Spurs players took advantage of that to immediately gather around Nuno for instructions, whilst ours were actively walking past Brucie, who was stood there gormless as fuck, with his hands in his pockets.

Amazing that now we are actually doing "tactical injuries" as a means to regroup and relay instructions, man.
