Upthemags
2 hours ago, Shak said: I really think we should extend him and push a new big money CB signing down the road a couple of years. He's absolutely immense and the jersey should be his until he drops off. Given Lascelles recent form... I'd be half tempted to extend him too. Spunk the entire budget next summer on midfield and front line improvements. Top class winger, top class CM. Maybe go out and buy a top class teenage CB, if we're gonna do anything there. His ability to dribble into space through the midfield and start an attack is immense... He really seems an integral part of Eddie's plan. Don't see them buying a replacement personally

STM
I'd give him 3 years, no sweat. He's become integral and also someone who could 100% play the Dummett/Richie role out of the first 11 in the future. He's done his football directorship degree too right? Get him learning from Danny A, and it's another string to our bow in future years. Schar is one of those annoying blokes who you know is just class at everything. He just cuts across goal like he did against PSG instead

Kanj
Genuinely think he’s gone up another level this season. I truly think he’s a top 3 CB in the PL league. He’s surely one of the best ball playing ones in football right now. Edited November 5, 2023 by Kanji

The College Dropout
I do think we need another top class CB because the best teams have 3 and then a solid backup. We have 2 and a solid backup. But it’s not the highest priority position. I hope this is the season Schar gets his credit

Yorkie
"... this club that I love so much... best time of my career... it's my second home..." Absolutely love hearing that from him. You know he's gonna be around for years after he finishes playing, so I look forward to years of him saying how much he fucking loves the Toon. PauloGeordio
Fabian Schar talking to Copa TS Podcast, with quotes reported by 20 minutes: Fabian Schar on his goals for this season: “We haven’t defined this clearly. “We finished in the top four last season and would of course like to build on that. “But in the Premier League it is extremely difficult to get into the Champions League. “If you nailed it last year, you’ll obviously want to fight for it again.” Fabian Schar on the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne: “For me it has become my second home. “The weather is often not great but I have never met such nice people in one place in my career. “The mood in the city has already changed in the last two years. “For the people here, football is religion. “There is a lot of joy and gratitude to be felt.” Fabian Schar on the Newcastle United takeover in October 2021: “I thought it was cool that something was happening here and that the club now had high ambitions. “I was aware that they could put two or three players in front of me [with new signings]. “But the best thing for me was that I had a coach who fully supported me. “Expectations have risen extremely. Nobody expected that everything would happen so quickly.” Fabian Schar on a potential return to Switzerland: “The plan is to return to Switzerland at some point but you never know what will happen. “That’s why I don’t want to rule anything out.” Fabian Schar on the European Championships 2024: “You always look forward to tournaments like a child. “I think Germany is an outstanding venue. “It is the perfect country for a football tournament. “I would be really happy if I could take part in the tournament.”

Aiston
So we 100% he's not about to come down with an injury after yesterday? Same as Longstaff? They finished the games but wouldn't be the first time an injury has been realised after the game.

There was a moment near the end where we had lost the ball and he looked very uncomfortable slowly trotting back with the attack leaving him in his wake. Longstaff seemed to recover better but at the time he looked distraught.
