That’s right lads - the UK government imposing sanctions upon the close friend of MBS who oversaw the murder of a journalist actually makes the takeover more likely to be approved.

The KSA says it was a rogue operation involving 20 people. UK Government issues sanctions against the 20; implying they accept the rogue operation explanation. EPL can then claim to Qatar that nobody in PIF involved as far as UK concerned.

Forty-seven people - including those suspected to have been involved in the deaths of a Saudi journalist and a Russian auditor - have been included on a new UK sanctions list.

Under a new UK-only sanctions regime, those individuals are the first to have been designated for sanctions.

They include:

- 20 Saudi nationals involved in the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi;

- 25 Russian nationals involved in the mistreatment and death of auditor Sergei Magnitsky, who uncovered widespread corruption;

- two high-ranking Myanmar generals involved in violence against Rohingya people and other ethnic minorities.

Two organisations involved in forced labour, torture and murder in North Korea's gulags have also been listed.

Announcing the new sanctions regime, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab told the House of Commons: "Today this Government and this House sends a very clear message on behalf of the British people.

"Those with blood on their hands, the thugs of despots, the henchman of dictators will not be free to waltz into this country to buy up property on the King's Road, to do their Christmas shopping in Knightsbridge or frankly to siphon dirty money through British banks or other financial institutions."

:lol: :lol: :lol:  Half of London is owned by people with blood on their hands, and the British banks are awash with dirty money. FFS, Raab really is an idiot among idiots.

Its not an idiocy thing its just this Governments way. Look like you are doing something while actually doing nowt, keeps everyone happy.

You and everyone else except the 3 or 4 dudes making the decision.

Nowt new really.

PL are using their leverage to sort the piracy issue.

Slater still thinks it'll go through but Saudi need to make concessions and admit to being in the wrong regarding Bein.

Yeah it was a good listen I found.

His main "concern" is Saudis pride. If they stand firm and plead complete innocence in piracy without willing to make or do any changes then their is a big chance the PL will not let them in "the club"

Fwiw I think SA see this as a real opportunity to be bigger and better than Qatar on the World stage and SA will do everything needed to keep the PL happy.

Haven’t they already relented with the anti piracy measures they have put in place.
